Job Title: Assistant General Manager, Public School Food Services
Reports to: General Manager USDA
Full Time: 52 Weeks
Pay Range: $62,000 – $72,000/ Yearly.
Job Overview:We are seeking a motivated and experienced Assistant General Manager to oversee daily operations in our school district’s food service department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food service management, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for promoting student nutrition and health.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the General Manager in planning, directing, and coordinating the activities of the food service department.
Oversee the preparation and delivery of meals across multiple schools, ensuring compliance with nutrition and safety standards.
Manage staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve efficiency and quality of service.
Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and parents to promote participation in the school meal program.
Monitor inventory levels and manage procurement of food supplies and equipment.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding school food service.
Handle budgeting, forecasting, and financial management duties.
Analyze meal service data to recommend improvements and adjustments to menus and operations.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, Culinary Arts, Nutrition, Business Administration, or related field
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in food service management, preferably in a school or institutional setting.
Strong leadership and people management skills.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Proficient in MS Office and food service management software.
Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to public school food service.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with all stakeholders.
