Advanced R&D Engineer/Scientist
The Advanced R&D Engineer Scientist will be responsible for performing both experimental and simulation tasks in the laboratory, and to apply them in the development of new refrigerants for AC and Refrigeration applications. This engineer will support development of internal modeling and simulation tools to support the growth of the Refrigerants business. The engineer needs to effectively communicate technical information to industry and customers to assist their transition to new environmentally safer refrigerant substitutes.

This job will facilitate design, development, and testing to meet project objectives faster and more efficiently and you develop and commercialize products & technologies.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and develop experiment protocols to evaluate thermal systems and/or their individual components such as heat exchangers (e.g. air-to-refrigerants, liquid-to-refrigerant) and compressors (e.g. reciprocating, scrolls, and rotary)
• Work as a team with experimentalists to get the necessary data and validation of modelling results with laboratory data
• Analyze, solve complex and complicated problems
• Interpret complex scientific data and clearly communicate results to diverse stakeholders
• Operate proficiently and efficiently in a matrix organization
• Handle all related job responsibilities in accordance with HSE policy
• Participate in the invention/discovery process with professionals
The annual base salary range for this position is $108,000-$120,000. Please note that this
salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various

responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education
and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.
In October, 2024 Honeywell announced the spin-off of our Advanced Materials business to become a stand-alone publicly traded company, independent of Honeywell. Our intention is that this role, dedicated to the Advanced Materials business, will be a part of this future transaction when the separation occurs.
You must have
• Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience in research OR
• 5+ years of experience working for manufacturers of refrigeration systems, cooling systems and/or related technologies, OR
• 5+ years of research experience in an academic setting that works closely with the industry

• Knowledge/experience on the design/development of thermal systems
• Good understanding of thermodynamic cycles, refrigeration, and heat transfer
• Ability to do both experimental and theoretical work
• Experience in working on global project teams is preferred
• Excellent verbal and communication skills

• Demonstrated ability to drive technology commercialization is a plus
