Why this job matters

Consumer Finance accounting models align our revenue and costs with the length of our customer contracts. We have the largest volume of customers in the Group and as we pursue our key goals of being personal and winning the household, our product portfolio is growing, which is adding complexity to our accounting.

We’re looking for an experienced accountant to review our existing models, determine the right platform for the model, and to rebuild models where need. The role holder will ensure consistency in design and that models are robust enough to handle future requirements. They will also play a key role in our evolving business, working closely with finance and change colleagues to ensure that revenue recognition requirements are captured for new platforms and propositions.

What you’ll be doing

  1. You’ll aid the Consumer Finance team with its plan to update and re-platform a number of complex accounting models. The existing models are currently platformed in Excel and the working assumption is that they will be transitioned to the Anaplan platform.

  2. You’ll ensure the new models:

a. Are designed and built in a consistent manner where applicable.

b. Comply with our pre-defined Accounting Policies.

c. Contribute to a robust Financial Control environment and provide meaningful insight into the accounting.

  1. You’ll perform actual model build work and support the model build work performed by other members of the wider Consumer Finance team, including GFSS.

  2. You’ll deal with various stakeholders within Consumer Finance.

  3. You’ll work with wider business stakeholders, including Digital, Consumer transformation and proposition to investigate issues and ensure that the right data sources are in place to enable our accounting models to work.

  4. You’ll undertake regular model and assumption reviews and respond to ongoing business changes, such as new regulatory requirements and changes in pricing.

Leadership responsibilities

  1. You’ll ensure the model build project deliveries are met by aiding with the project management of the available resources.

  2. As new models are built, you’ll train and coach accounting colleagues in handover to BAU

Skills

Must have

  1. A Qualified Accountant or equivalent experience.

  2. Complex model building skills - from design through to development, testing and deployment.

  3. Ability to create and execute plans using virtual teams.

  4. Excellent organisational abilities.

  5. Superb stakeholder management and communication skills.

  6. A curious mindset

Would be good to have

  1. Experience of Anaplan platform and Anaplan model building.

  2. A basic understanding of IFRS 15 and IFRS 16 Accounting policy.

  3. Experience with Consumer revenue systems
