Job Description

The Senior Director, Specialty Pharmacy Strategy & Contracting, is responsible for developing and implementing specialty pharmacy strategies for the Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals portfolio. The focus is to work closely with cross-functional teams (Area Reimbursement Managers (ARMs)/Patient Services & Reimbursement (PS&R)/Market Access/Marketing) to develop and implement strategies and lead pull-through initiatives to maximize opportunities for the portfolio. They lead the specialty pharmacy strategy development, contracting process, including negotiating contract language and terms, from beginning through end, monitor contract performance and make the appropriate adjustments as needed. They maintain up to date knowledge of Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals and competitive products, strategies, account priorities and the broader healthcare market trends impacting healthcare and the specialty pharmacy landscape. Additionally, they collaborate with marketing and sales to shape strategy, maximize opportunity, and mitigate patient access and profitability risk.Travel across the US to see customers and meet with HQ based teams is required.Typical Accountabilities:

  • Deliver on Profitability Goals

  • Develop and execute on customer specific strategic specialty pharmacy account plans

  • Establish business relationships with specialty pharmacy account leaders and as appropriate, work with and support the National Account Director to develop relationships across the account (Trade, Client Services, Case Management) and other organizations that influence specialty pharmacy

  • Accountable for developing and executing negotiation contract strategy for specialty pharmacy

  • Accountable for understanding the entire MALLINCKRODT business at assigned accounts; including but not limited to standard specialty pharmacy metrics

  • Collaborates with PS&R, ARMs and other cross-functional partners to resolve patient reimbursement access challenges

  • Establish business relationships with Mallinckrodt leaders including patient services (PS&R), reimbursement teams (ARMs), market access, marketing and sales

  • Accountable for the full account contracting cycle from beginning to end and then monitors contract performance; including accuracy of all contract language and terms such as: key operational terms; enhanced services administrative fees, invoicing and payment terms, etc

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Considerable pharmaceutical experience in specialty pharmacy and patient reimbursement services

  • 5+ years in specialty pharmacy, patient services, or market access roles

  • Thorough understanding of market dynamics across multiple therapeutic areas and across various business segments

  • Knowledge of rare disease market dynamics, competitive landscape and legislative landscape

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with and influence senior leaders and peers

  • Exhibited ability to manage multiple, concurrent work streams in diverse functions and therapeutic areas

  • Consistently demonstrated intellectual curiosity

  • Strong understanding of the broader healthcare ecosystem

  • Experience with organized customers preferably at the C-Suite level

  • Ability to learn and effectively communicate with customer’s detailed clinical information regarding Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals and competitive medicines.

Desirable:

  • Deep understanding of the rare disease, specialty care marketplace and specialty reimbursement landscape model

  • Account management experience with established relationship within specialty pharmacy

  • Understanding of financial concepts and contracting issues including legal and best price implications

  • Prior management experience in specialty pharmacy, market access or sales

  • Prior experience in specialty pharmacy at a pharmaceutical company or managed care organization

  • Healthcare related degrees: PharmD, B.S in Pharmacy, APRN, RN or other advanced degrees
