DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this position, you will engage in entry-level technical tasks related to construction projects, focusing on training. Your responsibilities will include ensuring that all construction activities adhere to approved codes, plans, standards, and specifications. You will take part in a comprehensive 12-month on-the-job training program. Your role will involve routine inspections of materials and workmanship on transportation construction projects to verify compliance with contract requirements and established standards. You will maintain inspection checklists for each operation under your purview, which will necessitate researching contract items in relevant publications and standards. Additionally, you will assist in inspecting all phases of transportation construction work, including checking grades, elevations, and stake-outs for structures and roadways. You will also support the verification of work performed by contractors and inspection staff as outlined in the Project Office Manual and required by relevant publications. Documentation will be produced and reviewed both manually and electronically, utilizing department-provided software for project documentation and entering daily records into the Engineering and Construction Management System.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, vendor controlled work hours Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, ad-hoc, at the discretion of the supervisor. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Bridgeville. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
An associate degree in surveying, drafting, designing, civil, or any other appropriate field of engineering technology. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 6 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
