Responsibilities

Directs the development, implementation, communication and monitoring of resident engagement opportunities that are meaningful to our residents and families. Supports experiences, activities and programs that are purposeful, and meet or exceed the needs/interests of our residents. Provides training and on-going support to community Executive Directors and resident engagement associates through resources, training, site visits and personalized support based on company goals. Oversees the corporate standards, policies, resources, guidelines, newsletter and calendar development, and innovates processes or solutions for feedback around resident engagement.

  • Oversees the Resident Engagement Center of Excellence as a leader in aging engagement, supporting engagement programs, experiences and external partnerships for residents of Brookdale.

  • Assists Executive Directors with the recruitment, hiring, orientation and staff training of new resident engagement leaders.

  • Provides ongoing resident engagement support to community Executive Directors, as well as the Community Operations support teams. Oversees the network of resident engagement mentors.

  • Conducts monthly planning calls and other trainings to support communities in the achievement of company standards for resident engagement and the overall program by using agendas and tools aligned to the Company’s strategic goals.

  • Prepares and delivers a detailed agenda to be covered monthly in order to assist in ongoing staff training, support needs, sharing of ideas and reviewing of policies, procedures and systems to meet and exceed expectations in engagement needs from individual pursuits, community partnerships, small group clubs and large group opportunities.

  • Supports resident engagement leaders in the evaluation and improvement of engagement opportunities including resident prospect visit matching to drive preference for choosing Brookdale. Oversees execution of the third party resident/family survey annually, and takes resident/family feedback to improve overall programming in various community types.

  • Evaluates and provides guidelines and resources for methods of communicating resident engagement opportunities. Partners with the creative team to ensure engagement program materials are on brand and leveraged appropriately.

  • Develops and maintains resident engagement policies, handbooks, training manuals, event planners, resource guides and standards for newsletters/calendars. Reviews all Brookdale resident engagement newsletters to ensure the production is of the highest quality of print, uses space effectively and meets the diversity and variety of interests of the resident population.

  • Produces innovative senior programs, activities and events to be rolled-out nationwide to all communities.

  • Assists and advises resident engagement leaders who are responsible for supervising the transportation department within their communities.

  • Encourages the joint planning, cooperation and resource sharing for resident engagement leaders and assisted living managers to ensure quality activities and experiences meet the regulatory guidelines for each state.

  • Assists in the planning and development of annual operating budgets for resident engagement departments (and Transportation) at Brookdale-owned and managed properties.

  • Provides training for corporate sessions and leadership groups.

  • Ensures that resident satisfaction is being met at all communities in terms of resident engagement opportunities. Reviews all plans of action for properties in need of improvement and helps facilitate ongoing support for those properties requiring additional support and consultation.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy, General Recreation, Communications, Physical Education/Wellness or related field required. Minimum of five years’ experience working in a senior living environment with direct experience as an Activity Director, Special Event Director, Marketing or Resident Services Director. Experience in a community Senior Center or recreational programming is also accepted. Multi-site oversight preferred

Knowledge and SkillsHas an advanced knowledge of the organization, industry, aging, and a functional discipline. Extensive understanding of technical areas gained through experience and used to complete and/or oversee assignments. Extensive knowledge, interest and demonstrated ability in program planning for senior populations. Philosophical commitment to maintaining and enhancing the dignity, quality of life and optimum independent functioning of older adults. Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and team building skills. Computer knowledge is essential. Must possess good judgment and be enthusiastic. Must possess excellent organizational and planning skills. Ability to work with frequent interruptions and manage simultaneous priorities. Ability to work evenings and weekends (as needed); Ability to travel overnight.

$133,960 - $170,648 / year
