Amazon Finance Manager, VAT Projects, FOAA EMEA in Bratislava, Slovakia

Description

To support Amazon’s growing business and VAT compliance, Finance Operations Accounting and Analysis (FOAA) is looking for a Finance Manager owning and supporting global VAT and E-invoicing projects. Such projects will relate to business expansions, new product or system launches and compliance with new or changed VAT regulations.

The Finance Manager represents FOAA during project meetings, prepares and reviews business and accounting requirement documents as well as journal entry mappings. Communicating and coordinating with FOAA internal and external stakeholders are important aspects of the role. The successful candidate will have a strong desire in innovating processes and exceeding expectations in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, driving innovation on behalf of our customers.

Key job responsibilities

  • Support and co-own EMEA VAT compliance and E-invoicing integration projects from a Finance Operations Accounting perspective.

  • Liaison with Indirect Tax Controllership and Compliance, Accounting, Finance Operations, and Technology teams with the goal to assure the VAT compliance of the financial statements.

  • Review tax requirements documents (TRD), provide accounting assessment, and monitor implementation during the launch period.

  • Influence internal decision making with the goal to sustain and improve accounting of indirect taxes and accuracy of tax filings.

  • Safeguard the accuracy of VAT financial statement and tax filing by highlighting financial risks associated with VAT and E-invoicing projects.

  • Inform functional process owners about new projects and explain impact on existing accounting processes.

  • Provide internal projects communications in Monthly Business Reviews to Senior Leadership.

  • Promote VAT awareness, including knowledge sharing and training with respect to VAT rules, policies and procedures, within Finance Operations.

Base pay for this position starts from EUR 3,250+ gross per month and salary depends on the skills and requirements, there will be further pay components such as a sign on bonus and the eligibility to participate in a restricted stock unit scheme operated independently by Amazon.com Inc. in USA. Amazon's Finance Operations, Accounting & Analysis (FOAA) team is a fast-paced, team-focused, dynamic environment and delivering great experiences for our customers is top priority. FOAA is seeking a Financial Analyst III to support project requirements and implementation for Accounting operations in FOAA VAT.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Bratislava, SVK

Basic Qualifications

• Proven familiarity with concepts of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

• Previous experience in accounting and/or experience in the area of indirect taxes.

• Project management experience.

• Strong written and oral communication skills with an ability to concisely summarize relevant data and convey results by effectively articulating complex messages.

• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.

• Independent and entrepreneurial attitude showing the ability to work with minimal direction.

• Experience with understanding complex process flows and driving process improvements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree and/or Professional certification (CPA/Qualified Accounting certificate) + relevant experience.

• Good understanding of accounts payables and receivables process flows and how they translate into the accounting framework.

• Experience working with service center support teams and matrix organizations

• Knowledge of E-invoicing programs and VAT requirements related to E-invoicing
