WSP USA Senior Consultant, Data Analysis & Engineering, Sustainability, Energy and Climate Change in Boulder, Colorado

WSP USA's Climate Resiliency and Sustainability practice has an immediate opening for a Senior Consultant, Data Analysis & Engineering to support the company's growing Sustainability, Energy and Climate Change offering. The individual will support a client-facing team to solve next-generation sustainability challenges through data intelligence and strategic program development, design, and implementation. The ideal candidate will have the flexibility and capacity to work on a wide variety of projects and the demonstrated ability to work well with cross-functional teams. Candidates should be passionate about sustainability and data, self-motivated and self-directed, collaborative, and able to produce high-quality work products.

Your Impact

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Developing and maintaining business intelligence dashboards (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), visualizations, and analytical tools

  • Designing, implementing, maintaining, and upgrading sustainability databases and platforms

  • Establishing ETL processes to collect, clean, and transform sustainability data across a variety of data systems and structures

  • Performing advanced data analysis such as scenario analysis, predictive modeling, and machine learning

  • Support development of scopes and budgets for data-focused projects and tasks

  • Preparing inventories, performance metrics, and reports for energy, GHG, water, waste, and other resource data

  • Developing trainings and internal education resources to support growth of internal analytics capabilities

  • Supporting the identification and evaluation of opportunities to achieve energy, GHG, and resource reductions

  • Researching leading sustainability programs and initiatives

  • Producing sustainability reports, disclosures, and other communications

  • Managing projects and project teams

  • Supporting business development activities with existing and prospective clients

  • Gathering business requirements for data use and business case

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with concentration in Computer Science or Data Science. , Engineering, Energy, Sustainability, Public Policy, Environmental Studies or related

  • Minimum of 6 years of related professional experience in data engineering, analysis, business intelligence, and/or dashboard development with recent focus on sustainability, energy, engineering, management consulting topics

  • Ability to design, implement, and maintain dashboards in Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, or comparable programs

  • Ability to implement advanced analytical techniques such as data cleansing, statistical analysis, machine learning, and/or predictive modeling

  • Ability to engage directly with clients to document and translate client business requirements into tangible project tasks, milestones, and/or other deliverables

  • Ability to develop and present analyses using programs and functionality such as Power Query

  • Ability to derive accurate, clear, and meaningful insights from large and complex datasets

  • Ability to work independently, multitask, and manage time efficiently

  • Ability to collaborate remotely across geographies and platforms

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, maturity, credibility, confidence, and integrity

  • Strong oral and written communication skills and use of programs including Microsoft Word and PowerPoint

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or Data Science, Engineering, Energy, Sustainability, Public Policy, Environmental Studies.

  • Expertise in data engineering, database design, and database administration in different environments, such as SQL Server

  • Competence in programming for data analysis (e.g., SQL, R, Python, DAX, M) and ability to learn new software systems and tools

  • Knowledge of GHG, energy, water, waste, and other sustainability resource metrics and KPIs

  • Experience scoping and budgeting data services and products with an understanding of team capabilities

  • Familiarity with sustainability issues and frameworks such as CDP, GRI, DJSI, SASB, and the GHG Protocol preferred

  • Experience working in virtual environments

Compensation:

Expected Salary (all locations): $72,800 - $144,100

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.

Expected Salary (Colorado only): $72,800 - $135,300

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
