Medtronic Machinist IV in Boulder, Colorado

The Machinist IV performs a variety of toolmaking tasks, using experience, specific training and good judgment. The Machinist IV is responsible for maintaining, improving, and building Manufacturing/Facilities assets, along with associated support equipment used thought the Boulder Site. Our Machinist role works independently to produce parts for manufacturing machines, prototype parts for engineers, and other machining projects as needed.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Setup, program, and run CNC machining centers, manual mills and lathes, and other shop equipment.

  • Work independently to complete jobs on time.

  • Produce precision components to print, modify existing parts, and inspect form and fit.

  • Solve problems creatively. Come up with solutions to design issues relating to machinability. Suggest material choices.

  • Communicate effectively. Provide feedback as needed to keep others informed about status of urgent projects, issues as they arise, and other concerns.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience of relevant experience and may require vocational or technical education and advanced certification in addition to prior work experience

  • HS Diploma/GED required

Nice to Have

  • Working knowledge of CAD software such as Solidworks or ProE/Creo

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Knowledge and application of all machining, tool building, 3D CAD/CAM proficiency, preferably with Creo, MasterCAM or ESPRIT.

  • Fully competent in basic Milling, Grinding, Lathe, CNC, Wire EDM, EDM sinker skills and prototyping methodologies including CAD/CAM

  • Manufacturing methods, mathematics, materials

  • Computer skills (MS Office Suite) CAD/CAM
