Job Description

Join Takeda as a Sr. Director, Market Access and Channel Strategy, US Rare Disease and Plasma-Derived Therapies out of our Cambridge, MA office. As Sr. Director of Market Access and Channel Strategy, you will:

  • Develop and oversee sustainable US market access and channel strategies that will allow patients to gain access to Takeda’s existing and future products (within the US Rare Disease and Plasma-Derived Therapies BUs)

  • Responsible for value story development, payer/PBM contracting strategy, pricing, specialty pharmacy and distribution plans, reimbursement and payer / channel marketing resources for in-line and pipeline products

  • Lead, motivate and coach team to develop next generation of Takeda and Market Access and Channel Strategy leaders

  • Position and market Takeda as a valued partner to targeted payer and channel customers

  • Ensure close collaboration with other Managed Markets and Patient Services colleagues along with Medical, HEOR, Marketing, Finance, Analytics and Sales teams to capture relevant payer and channel insights, identify data gaps, develop compelling value propositions and ensure field-based teams are equipped with the right tools.

  • Understand reimbursement landscape and incorporates into market access & pricing strategy

  • Collaborate with HEOR in the development of payer evidence needs and ensure it is integrated into the Medical/HEOR evidence plan

  • Ensure brand plans incorporate the needs of patients, payers, channel and healthcare providers

  • Align organization on metrics to assess impact of key market access strategies and tactics

  • Contribute to annual brand planning, forecasting and budgeting process to represent payer and channel customer segment

  • Consider full enterprise when recommending strategies

  • Partner with New Product Planning and Business Development functions to inform market access inputs and strategies for early-stage / targeted assets

  • Identify, as appropriate, opportunities for innovative arrangements based on brand strategies in collaboration with Strategic Partnerships

  • Develop deep access capabilities across BU’s franchises

  • Oversee all payer and channel market research within BU

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required.

  • 10+ years of experience in biopharma required, with some biopharma market access experience (across payer, PBM, IDN, GPO, Specialty Pharmacy, etc).

  • Experience with biologics and specialty products preferred.

  • Launch experience preferred.

  • Proven success in leading market access launch readiness planning and implementation

  • Strong understanding of US payer market dynamics and how managed care organizations make decisions across commercial and public channels.

  • Experience and knowledge across multiple market access channels including: payer, PBM, IDN, distribution, specialty pharmacy, GPOs

  • Experience with Commercial brand and financial planning processes.

  • Financial acumen including Gross-to-Net, resource allocation, budget management and reporting, strategic sourcing and P&L evaluation.

  • Strong analytical capabilities to ensure robust inputs to decision-making

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$205,100.00 - $322,300.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others.
