OBJECTIVES/ PURPOSE

The Director, Fibroinflammatory Disease Research working in the GI2 Drug Discovery Unit will:

  • lead researchprograms in collaboration with internal and external partners focused on the development of noveldrugcandidates for the treatment of chronicfibroinflammatorydiseases

  • be a strong scientificthinker with significantexperienceleadingdiscovery and development of therapies forinflammatory and/or fibroticdiseases

  • have extensiveexperiencedeveloping and/or evaluatingnovelsmall molecule, biologic or nucleic acid therapeutics

  • support, evaluate and/or identifybusiness developmentopportunities to enhance project and/or pipelineprogression

  • be a highly collaborative and energetic scientist with superior communication skills, who can balance multiple, collaborative projectsand act as senior scientificconsultant to and leader of early-stage matrix project teams

A CCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develops and oversees novel scientific projects and manages the work of others directly as well as in a matrixed structure

  • Leads efforts to determine mechanism of action for drug targets and candidates using state-of-the-art methods and tools

  • Oversees the execution of drug candidate discoveryand developmentprograms, using contemporary methods and tools in collaboration with internal and external partners

  • Proactively identify complex obstacles to progress; recommend and implement solutions using a diverse set of resources; regularly add value to research projects through creative ideas

  • Manage a wide variety of tasks, techniques, and projects; integrate these responsibilities to produce quality result with a high level of efficiency

  • Act as a scientific mentor

  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and leadership

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS :

  • PhD degree in a scientific discipline with 10+ years experience , orMS with 16+ years experience, or BS with 18+ years experience in the discovery and development of noveltherapies for fibroinflammatorydiseases

  • Extensiveexperienceleading project teams in drugdiscovery from project initiationthrough to candidate identification and selectionin abiopharma setting

  • Deep understanding of complexbiological systems

  • Superior oral and writtencommunication skills with provenability to effectivelyinteract with technical, scientific staff and research management

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$169,400.00 - $266,200.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
