Job Description:
This position is for a Senior Level Electrical Engineer and Power System Analysis Specialist having technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, budgeting, or coordinating complex electrical and power system analysis (load flow, short circuit, selective coordination, and arc flash studies) assignments.
You will be responsible for supervision, guidance, and review of power system analysis tasks and projects conducted by the members of CDM Smith’s electrical practice.
You will serve as CDM Smith's power system analysis technical expert in highly technical electrical matters. In this capacity, you will assist CDM Smith’s electrical practice in matters related to design, troubleshooting, and problem solving.
You will be working in the capacity of a liaison with individuals and units within and outside of CDM Smith with responsibility for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to electrical design and power system analysis.
You will be expected to work independently as the electrical lead or as project manager on multiple tasks and projects.
You will be providing support to business development activities of a highly technical electrical nature.
You will be operating in the capacity of a technical and professional leader and as a mentor for lower level employees.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or Electrical Technology or related discipline. Professional engineering (PE) license. 10 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
A solid foundational knowledge of industrial and utility power systems.
Published in IEEE Journals or Transactions, or other technical journals a plus.
Experience with Power System Harmonics Analysis a plus
Experience with Protective Relay Setting File Creation & Analysis a plus
Proficiency in power system planning a plus.
Applied expertise in distributed generation, alternative energy, and microgrid systems a plus.
Proficiency with designing, troubleshooting, and problem-solving for medium voltage distribution systems including substations, switchgear and standby generation systems
Must be proficient with SKM Power*Tools and/or ETAP. Proficiency with other electrical system analysis software (Easypower, EDSA/Paladin, Cyme, or Milsoft) is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:
Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position will be assigned client work on Department of Defense Powers System Analysis projects that require U.S. citizenship to perform work on.
Expert Knowledge of industry standard analysis software ETAP and/or SKM. Demonstrated work experience in performing power systems engineering (load flow, short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies) Expert Knowledge of engineer principles of design. Expert Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.). Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Expert knowledge of federal, state and local regulations.
Background Check and Drug Testing Information:

Additional Compensation:
All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
