Chemist (PhD) (m/f/d) - Analytical Chemistry
to be located in our IFF R&D Innovation Center in Bomlitz, Lower Saxony, Germany.
The IFF Pharma Solutions business produces and sells high-performance cellulose derivatives, alginates and related polymers used for formulations across a broad variety of applications in the Pharmaceuticals, Food, and Industrial Specialties and Personal Care markets. The portfolio is a highly profitable part of the company and has shown significant value growth over the last several years.
The core tasks of the analytical team include ensuring product quality through analytical testing and support of research and development projects.
Key responsibilities include:
Performing cGMP level product release testing.
Development and implementation of efficient and valid analytical test methods according to cGMP standards for applications such as product testing and material characterization in research projects.
Analytical service for costumer requests and research and development projects.
The analytical laboratory uses techniques such as wet chemical analysis, chromatographic methods (GC, HPLC, IC) as well as IR and NMR spectroscopy.
We are looking foran analytical chemist, who will take care of the development and implementation of valid test methods and support the performance of complex analytics in the laboratory. In addition, maintaining quality assurance documents and writing validation reports to meet regulatory requirements as well as publications and Invention Disclosures is a responsibility of this position. The job is balanced between practical work in the laboratory and work in the office.
In this role, close cooperation within the global analytical department and across departments with research and development, quality assurance and productions is essential.
The candidate has a PhD in Chemistry, is experienced in the field of polysaccharides and has deep theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in analytical chemistry. In addition, experience with statistical data evaluation and analytical software is a plus. Proven experience with scientific research and documentation e.g. by peer reviewed publications is desired. Strong teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills are required besides excellent problem-solving skills.

The position is located within the Pharma Innovation Center in Bomlitz (Germany). Due to the intensive local interaction e. g. with the laboratories, at least basic German language skills are required. The main language in business interactions is English. The position is fulltime and regular (Vollzeit und unbefristet).
The Pharma Solutions business will be taking on its next chapter of growth as a trusted partner for the pharmaceutical industry with the announcement to sell Pharma Solutions to Roquette. This move will position Pharma Solutions to expand its industry leadership through continued investment in innovation to meet the evolving needs of pharmaceutical manufacturers and developers worldwide. The sale is presently expected to close in the first half of 2025, pending regulatory approvals and other closing conditions. The Pharma Solutions business unit will remain a part of IFF until close and, at such time, it will transition to Roquette.
