Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, located in beautiful Boise, Idaho, is seeking a Patient Access Manager to serve as a subject matter expert related to revenue cycle and financial counseling functions for both of our Boise and Eagle locations. This full-time benefited exempt position will be primarily based at 1055 N. Curtis Road but does have a secondary location that will require travel to our Eagle facility located at 323 E. Riverside Drive. The typical working hours for this position will be Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. however, department needs may require work outside of these hours and flexibility is required for this position.

As the Patient Access Manager , you will collaborate with all clinical departments and providers to proactively enhance the patient experience while meeting and complying with all local, state, and federal regulations. In addition, you will ensure revenue excellence and that key performance indicators are meeting or exceeding expectations by the Trinity Health Revenue Cycle Standards for Productivity and quality.

GENERAL SUMMARY AND PURPOSE:

Serves as manager of Patient Access and Financial Services as subject matter expert related to revenue cycle and financial counseling functions regionally for Saint Alphonsus Boise and Nampa Hospitals, and in some cases all acute facilities in Saint Alphonsus Health System. Collaborates with all clinical departments and providers throughout Boise, Nampa, Ontario, and Baker City to proactively enhance the patient experience while meeting and complying with all local, state, and federal regulations. Ensures Revenue Excellence Key Performance Indicators are meeting or exceeding expectations by the Trinity Health Revenue Cycle Standards for Productivity and Quality. Fundamental in establishing and maintaining a culture at Saint Alphonsus that balances serving our patients’ needs while being financial stewards for our health system. Requires flexibility in work hours.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare, social work, finance, business, or other related field required or 4 years experience in Revenue Cycle in hospital or clinic setting in lieu of a degree

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organizational Mission, Core Values, Vision, in behaviors, practices, and decisions.

  • Must be able to set and organize own work priorities, and adapt to them as they change frequently. Must be able to work concurrently on a variety of tasks/projects in an environment that may be stressful with individuals having diverse personalities and workstyles.

  • Evaluates performance, competency and training needs of staff. Holds staff accountable for performance standards and provide necessary feedback and counseling. Manages and coordinates the daily activities of the department's colleagues. Initiates performance improvement processes, as necessary. Conducts specific individual performance evaluations, as appropriate.cts as Saint Alphonsus Health System subject matter expert (SME) to Patient Access in one or more of the following areas; outpatient services, inpatient admissions and Hospitality Services Provides initial new hire training and ensures regulatory competencies are current with on-going evaluations.

  • Focuses on enhancement of Patient Experience through performance improvement initiatives and incorporates Lean principles when implementing operational processes.

  • Develop policies, procedures, and other standard work flows to support patient access services.

  • Responsible for accuracy of payroll information. Does preliminary editing of payroll reports.

  • Establish and monitor budgets and take action to ensure that financial and operational goals are achieved. Ensures timely reporting of budget-related data. Plans and uses resources efficiently; recommends ideas to improve efficiencies or reduce expenses. Prepares complete, accurate and timely reports and presentations. Develops and implements work plans to achieve objectives.

  • Must be able to travel to the various Saint Alphonsus sites (50%) as needed. Identifies quality and productivity issues. Accountable for improving outcomes in collaboration with the department Director or VP. Participates in ongoing quality monitoring, data collection, analysis, action plans, and implementation.

Ability to communicate and collaborate with patients, providers, colleagues, RHM and system leadership, multiple direct patient care providers and others in order to expedite the patient access process.

  • Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health and Saint Alphonsus.

  • May serve as relief support, if the work schedule or workload demands assistance to departmental personnel. Cross Training in various functions is expected to assist in the smooth delivery of departmental services.

  • Must have strong knowledge of medical terminology as well as a robust understanding of government and commercial health insurance payor policies.

  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, the Organization Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures (EMTALA, HIPAA, etc.) in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behaviors.

  • Ability to work closely with management to produce data and complex reports to develop, monitor, and meet key performance metrics.

  • Dynamic communication skills (verbal and written) in coaching trainees and colleagues. Serves as a change agent, coach, mentor, team builder and facilitator.

  • Ability to effectively manage and utilize staff to meet department objectives and goals

  • Ability to manage a variety of tasks and problems at the same time, including coordinating work so deadlines are met. Multiple assignments often need to be prioritized daily.

  • Ability to troubleshoot a variety of complex problems.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with clinical teams. Must be able to work in an environment with a high level of activity, distractions, and numerous interruptions.
