Printing supplies are a critical part of HP's business. They form a key part of the office printing business. The Supplies Business Organization (SBO) is accountable for all current and future business, strategy, analytics, development and operations related to toner and Inkjet printing supplies.

Toner Supplies & Solutions is a relatively small organization with a critical mission for the company, driving success through a talented team of hard-working, fun-loving, innovation seekers. We have a deep support for each other, a focus on customer value, and a keen understanding of the overall print system. We manage the design, development, and delivery of new toner supplies to office customers all over the world, upholding the brand promise of quality and enabling security and sustainability solutions. We are also responsible for managing our current customers' toner needs, resolving issues in the field when they come up, and innovating new solutions for customers, partners, and HP that drive efficiencies.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly capable technology leader to be our next Toner Supplies & Solutions Director of Engineering. This role will be accountable for leading a dynamic technical team that is responsible for the development and delivery of new supplies products and solutions that meet strategic and financial goals for HP office and enterprise products worldwide. This position will report directly to the TSS General Manager and will be responsible for delivering new aftermarket supply SKUs that drive customer differentiation and protect HP aftermarket share with cartridge and cloud-based security solutions.

Key areas of focus include:

  • Creating and implementing defensible IP

  • Implementing cartridge security solutions

  • Using AI (Data Science, Machine learning, generativeAI, etc.) to deliver innovative solutions for both customers and team efficiencies

  • Delivering cost optimization for installed base supplies

  • Drive tracking and ACF supplies solutions

  • Managing the Canon Supplies R&D interface

  • New product development and introduction

  • Engineering solutions for current product issues

The R&D Director will partner closely with the Office Printing Solutions (OPS) organization and the broader Supplies Organization ensuring strong partnership with Marketing, Engineering, Brand Authentication, Competitive Intelligence, OEM partners and Senior Management.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Ability to lead in a fast pace, high request rate, dynamic environment and provide meaningful direction to the team

  • Strong business acumen and organizational savvy

  • Ability to quickly learn complex technologies and business models

  • Nurture and develop strong relationships with HP business unit leaders. Work collaboratively across a global matrix organization to help build alignment and ensure successful execution

  • Strong background in analytical thinking, business model innovation & project management

  • Excellent communication skills and business acumen working with senior management stakeholders

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science or related field, MBA or equivalent desirable

  • 10+ years of experience in leading R&D organizations in cross-functional environment

  • Previous knowledge of digital printing platforms (e.g., ink/toner, print heads, HW, SW/FW, electronics, writing systems, coatings, etc.)
