POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for planning, establishing, implementing, maintaining and administering a variety of health, safety and environmental programs to assure the highest possible degree of safety for employees.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITES / MAJOR DUTIES
Responsibilities and accountabilities include, but not limited to:
- Ensure compliance with all company health and safety policies and procedures.
- Plan, develop, implement and conduct safety training for new employee orientation.
- Ensure that quarterly health and safety training and all other specifically required training is provided for all employees.
- Coordinates pre-start health and safety inspections of facilities and employee PPE compliance with appropriate bakery operations supervision/management.
- Ensure all federal, state and local health and safety related laws regulations, rules and codes are observed.
- Ensure that OHSA 300 log of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses is maintained in the required manner. Post annual summary as required.
- Maintain required health and safety documents/files.
- Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of hazard control systems, policies and procedures and recommend changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate work place accidents and injuries.
- Conduct periodic health and safety walk-through inspections of all workplace facilities to audit physical conditions and safe work practices. Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the work place for correction.
- Conduct near miss and accident/injury investigations to determine causes and to appropriately identify and correct through appropriate bakery operations management level unsafe conditions or unsafe acts. Recommend appropriate discipline for unsafe acts.
- Compile, analyze, interpret and report accident/injury data.
- Responsible for Bakery Operations Workers Compensation Program. Administers routine first aid medical treatment for work related injuries. Evaluates need for doctor visits to help reduce recordable/reportable injuries.
- Directs activities of safety committee.
- Assists in development of health and safety awareness/incentives programs.
- Develop, implement and maintain a health and safety policy handbook and site specific health and safety policies required by law.
- Shall perform other duties as directed by supervision.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Three to five years of related experience in industrial health and safety management, administration and compliance. Nursing or EMT certification. Excellent communication skills up and down the organization. Strong planning, organization and follow up skills. Excellent people and process management skills. Bilingual (Spanish) language skills required.
DESIRED EDUCATION
BS/BA degree in a Health/Safety related field of study.
