Basic Job Functions:
The Shift 1st Helper will be expected to adhere to all requirements for protective equipment for those areas and be responsible for, but not limited to, making timely and accurate decisions under pressure, ensuring the safety of his team, the training of the EAF Helpers on his crew, the operation & refractory maintenance of the EAF, balancing oxygen and carbon inside the EAF, balancing the slag chemistry inside the EAF and ensuring the quality of heats that are delivered to the LMF while supporting the goals of the Melt Shop and Nucor-Yamato Steel in Safety, Quality, Environmental, Cost, and Productivity on their shift. 1st Helper will work in extreme heat, rotating shift, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
