Budget Title: Associate Director for International Recruitment

Salary: Staff Associate (SL-4)

Binghamton University's Office of Undergraduate Admissions seeks an experienced professional for the position of Associate Director for International Recruitment. The Associate Director will foster international undergraduate student enrollment by assisting in the creation and implementation of an institution-wide, data-driven strategy for international student recruitment and enrollment. This position will build Binghamton's market presence internationally and increase the quantity of highly qualified international students enrolling at Binghamton.

The Associate Director will:

  • Collaboratively establish international recruitment goals and develop partners including community colleges, Education USA centers, ESL programs, consular and embassy officials in strategically identified global markets.

  • Manage and maintain relationships with established international partners; recommend and vet potential new partnerships.

  • Assist the director of undergraduate recruitment in building and implementing a strategic international student recruitment plan that coexists with and complements the University's overall strategic plan and vision.

  • Assess current practices and make recommendations to the director regarding the value of all recruitment and yield activities.

  • Develop data-driven strategies and initiatives to break into new markets as well as increase applications in existing markets. The strategy should include but is not limited to: on-the-ground student recruitment, armchair recruitment and staying up-to-date with current trends and best practices in international student recruitment and admissions, including the effective use of social media.

  • Oversee all international travel and international application review with a strategic focus on enrolling students that will be successful at Binghamton.

  • Track prospects, inquiries, applications, and deposits in international territories taking action as needed.

  • Demonstrate knowledge and deep understanding of foreign educational credential systems and be able to advise on authenticity of credentials.

  • Develop communication plans and maintain strong relationships with prospective students, parents, counselors, and other influencers.

  • Travel to key regions throughout the year.

  • Supervise professional staff.

  • Work closely with and manage agent relationships. Assess and propose new partnerships.

  • Coordinate the International Student Ambassador program.

  • Maintain relationships with key offices on campus.

  • Serve on appropriate committees and task forces dealing with international students and enrollment.

    Job Requirements:

Visa sponsorship is not available for this position

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of five to seven years of progressive professional experience in international admissions or education with an emphasis on student recruitment

  • Proven track record of success including breaking into new markets and relationship-building

  • Demonstrated ability to present effectively

  • Previous supervisory experience managing professional or student staff

  • Strong intercultural communication skills and an ability to effectively communicate with international students, parents, and educators

  • Knowledge of best practices in international student recruitment, including SEVIS regulations and issues related to visa processing

  • Familiarity with foreign educational systems and the demonstrated ability to evaluate international applications and provide direction to others on a wide range of matters related to international admissions and enrollment

  • Demonstrated ability to leverage technology

  • Ability to meet aggressive deadlines while managing multiple priorities

  • Demonstrated commitment to data-driven decision-making, including effective analytical skills and proven results in achieving objectives and goals

  • For extensive travel purposes, a valid passport and driver's license

  • Ability to work nights and weekends to meet demands of the position and connect with staff and stakeholders in other time zones

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluency in a second language and/or experience living abroad

  • Master's Degree
