This job is it! - Be a Special Education Bus Assistant! - Work the same schedule as students (Weekends, Summers, Major Holidays off!). - Join the Billings Public Schools team assisting Special Needs students during their bus rides to and from school! Duties: - Assist in providing safe bus transportation for students with special needs. - Perform physical duties such as managing wheelchairs and special equipment that accompanies students; bending, lifting, pulling. - Perform necessary first aid, CPR, or suctioning to care for any short-term emergency problems. - Handle conflicts or physical situations between students. - Work a split shift and have reliable transportation. Qualifications: - Excellent communication skills and the ability to get along with staff, co-workers, children and parents. - High school diploma or equivalent required. - Experience with students with special needs preferred. - Must be able to work with highly behavioral or medically fragile students. - Pre-employment physicals are required for this position and are paid for by the District. Schedule: Estimated 4.25 to 6 hours per day (a.m./p.m. split shift - estimated hours from 6:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.) Wage: $14.81 per hour for 120-day probationary period; then $16.45 per hour.
