BILLINGS SCHOOL DISTRICT 2 NETWORK ENGINEER in BILLINGS, Montana
Billings School District 2 is seeking a Network Engineer. Location: Lincoln Center. Schedule: 1.0 FTE Full-time; 8 hours per day; Monday - Friday; 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Wage: $35.90 per hour for 90 working-day probationary period; then $39.89 per hour. Duties: - Plan, design, develop and support network infrastructure. - Design, deploy and support LANs, WANs, and wireless networks. - Configure networks to ensure smooth and reliable operation. - Provide consistent solutions based on issues like traffic congestion, infrastructure upgrades and routine troubleshooting. - Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated plans for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery. - Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records. - Assess near- and long-term network capacity needs. - Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed. - Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information. - Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports. - Participate in managing all network security solutions. - Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry. Qualifications: - Seven years of progressively responsible work experience which must include five years experience directly supporting WAN, LAN, wireless networks and network infrastructure. - Experience with network capacity planning, network security principles and network management best practices. - Understanding of testing tools, network protocols and network layers. - Strong verbal and written communication. - Ability to prioritize in stressful situations. - Highly self-motivated and self-directed, with keen attention to detail. - Strong customer service orientation. - Excellent organizational and analytical skills. Preferred: - College graduate with two years minimum of post secondary coursework in technical training. - Industry certifications in networking. - Prior work experience and/or certifications with Palo Alto firewalls, Extreme Networks switching and wireless, and GPON.
