BIG SPRING - CITY OF Customer Service Clerk in Big Spring, Texas

This position is responsible for completing the duties of Customer Service Representative for transient and based aircraft aircrews. This position works Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and may be required to work on Saturday occasionally, as needed.

Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Factors such as regular attendance at the job are not routinely listed in job descriptions but are an essential function. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Greets aircrews and passengers arriving/departing from the airport.
  • Receives fuel orders from aircrews, coordinates aircraft fueling with city staff.
  • Processes credit card transactions for fuel sales.
  • Answers the telephone and responds to customer concerns and handles logistics for loaner car/rental car services.
  • Provides administrative assistance to Department Director and other city staff.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

``` - High School diploma or GED. - Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent. - Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/ internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. - Possession of a valid drivers license issued by the state of Texas. - Must complete a computer skills test PRIOR to submitting application. Applicants must submit the results of Skills Testing with Application for Employment. Skills test willbe taken at the Texas Workforce Commission located at Howard College, 1001 Birdwell Lane, Suite 106, Big Spring, Texas 79720 (next door to Howard Cottage day care). - Credit checks will be conducted on all applicants under final consideration for this position.

``` - Knowledge of basic computer skills including word processor - Knowledge of or ability to learn POS Functions. - Skill in performing basic mathematical calculations. - Skill in operating such office equipment as a computer, calculator, typewriter, copier, and facsimile machine. - Skill in dealing with the public. - Skills in written and oral communication.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS The Department Director will assign work in terms of general instructions. Completed work is spot-checked for compliance with procedures, accuracy and the nature and propriety of the results.

GUIDELINES Guidelines include city and departmental policies and procedures. These guidelines are clear and specific but require some interpretation in application.

COMPLEXITY This position consists of related clerical tasks.

SCOPE AND EFFECT The purpose of this position is to complete customer service representative functions. Successful performance helps ensure a successful experience for our customers.

PURPOSE OF CONTACTS Contacts are typically to give and exchange information, resolve problems and provide services.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS The work is typically performed while sitting, standing, stooping, bending, or crouching.

WORK ENVIRONMENT The work is performed in an office.
