Job Title: Collections Manager

Job Description

We are seeking an energetic, positive, and results-driven Collections Manager to join our Accounting team. The ideal candidate will take ownership of all aspects of the collections process, demonstrating persistence and a willingness to take on additional responsibilities. This role requires an enthusiastic and detail-oriented professional with superb organizational skills. A precise and systematic approach, coupled with excellent Excel skills, will be crucial in managing the intricacies of our collections functions.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the collections process to ensure timely payment of outstanding invoices.

  • Formalize and execute the company's dunning process, adhering to industry best practices to achieve predictable and positive outcomes.

  • Analyze and resolve customer billing issues and disputes promptly and effectively, demonstrating ownership of the resolution process.

  • Act as the Highradius system administrator and superuser.

  • Work closely with various internal and external stakeholders to streamline collections activities.

  • Foster a collaborative and results-oriented work environment, contributing to a positive and energetic team culture.

  • Generate precise and error-free reports on key collections metrics regularly.

  • Analyze data to identify trends, assess policy effectiveness, and recommend improvements to optimize collections performance.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.

  • 5+ years of Billing experience with at least 2 years in a Manager or Supervisory role.

  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.

  • Ability to lead a team effectively and foster a strong working culture.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Professional certification (e.g., CPA or similar) is a plus.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in collections, with a strong experience in service provider, construction, or similar industry.

  • Proven track record of successfully managing collections functions and driving improvements in accounts receivable performance.

  • Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to create and maintain complex reports.

  • Proficiency in ERP systems; experience with Infor ISM and/or Highradius is a plus but not required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages based on the audience and situation.

  • Comfortable and proactive in making phone calls instead of relying on emails for collections efforts.

Work Environment

5 days onsite, 8-hour work day, 30 min lunch (unpaid), 7 am to 9 am flex hours (as long as it is a set schedule every day). Office is pit style cubicles, so they must be comfortable being out with others. Free parking for employees at a garage right next to the office and 3 blocks from the Bethesda Metro. The company is family-owned, with strong culture and involvement from the owners and C-suite executives. They promote work-life balance, flexibility, and opportunities for growth. The majority of contractors that have worked here are now full-time staff.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $33.65/hr.
