TEKsystems Cable Technician in Bethesda, Maryland

Position Description: Cable technician will be responsible for cable pulling, anchoring, dressing, terminating, testing, labelling CAT6/6A cable, and WAP device installation. Cable technician will be supervised by a member of the S2N team and provided direction on the work to be performed. It is expected that this member of the team performs their work in a neat and professional manner, cleaning up after themselves. Technicians must implement and enforce all pertinent safety and Quality Control policies and procedures. - S2N is in need of 2 low voltage experienced cabling technicians for *5 weekends (Saturday and Sunday) in August and September. - This work will be taking place in an occupied office building and it is expected that the technicians have experience working in these conditions and cleaning up after themselves. Duties and Responsibilities: • Pull CAT6 and CAT6A cable in accessible ceilings and exposed ceilings in a neat and workmanlike manner. This work takes place in an occupied office, technician will need to open ceiling tiles and replace ceiling tiles after work is completed. • Anchor and dress CAT6 and CAT6A cable in the IT closet and in the ceilings. It is expected that this technician takes great pride in the appearance of their work. • Terminate CAT6 and CAT6A cable on a patch panel, wall plate, or biscuit jack. • Test and label CAT6 and CAT6A cable. Label on patch panels and wrap around labels on the device end of the cable. The label shall be neat in appearance. • Installation of Wireless Access Points (WAP’s). WAP’s will be relocated and installed new, it is expected that this technician has experience removing and installing WAP’s in a finished office space. They should be able to perform this task without damaging ceiling tiles or getting them dirty. WAP’s shall be square to the ceiling tiles or other devices in the ceiling. It is expected that this technician takes great pride in the appearance of their work. • Place plastic protection on desk surfaces and cleans up thoroughly at the end of their shift. This includes vacuuming the floor and wiping down work surfaces as needed. We will be working around active workstations, and it is imperative that the employees do not know we were there throughout the weekend. • This technician will be required to work Saturdays and Sundays 7am-3pm, maybe longer if required. • Implement the safety program. Take remedial action when required. Be thoroughly knowledgeable of all company safety standards, manuals, and procedures. Have working knowledge of applicable government regulations (e.g. OSHA) for the project.
