Position Summary:Required to work closely with the Tobacco Prevention Program Manager, other department staff, local/regional tobacco control alliances and relevant community partners within our service area to reduce tobacco use prevalence through prevention efforts. Participates in departmental planning for both State Tobacco Prevention Grant objectives and goal setting as needed. Expected to be familiar with capacity building efforts, policy development and tobacco taxation. Required to conduct background research on prevention efforts and inform/educate the general public or partners about findings. Plans, coordinates and organizes tobacco-related health promotion activities in the YK Delta Region, conducts health promotion events independently. Particular focus is on education of adults and children through prevention-themed community events, media outreach, as well as outreach efforts given in classrooms and in conjunction with teachers, etc. This job requires village travel and formation of partnerships with village tribal councils and school administrators. Develops and maintains community partnerships and close collaborative working relationships with local and statewide organizations.
