You will be the Technical Program Manager for a cross-functional team of Applied Scientists and (Machine Learning) Engineers, driving innovation in ML/AI platform capabilities that drive personalization across Amazon Music. You will build technical roadmaps, coordinate across stakeholders in Amazon Music, and drive experimentation and delivery all the way to bringing new products out to improve the Amazon Music customer experience.

Key job responsibilities

  • Build project plans by working backwards, set milestones, establish mechanisms, and bring the right people together to solve technical problems and ensure successful delivery.

  • Coordinate with leaders and stakeholders in multiple teams across Science, Tech, and Business/Product to drive data-driven decisions and alignment to achieve the program goals.

  • Dive deep into technical blockers, and work with cross-functional development teams to unblock delivery or find a path to resolution.

  • Create technical design documents, influence technical priorities, and apply project management best practices to increase the effectiveness and impact of your programs.

  • Identify blind spots, look around corners to identify improvement opportunities, and provide the technical glue between multiple teams/orgs and in areas that do not have clear lines of ownership.

  • Understand the architecture of the systems you work with (e.g., workflows, APIs, design limitations, and maintenance requirements).

  • Communicate ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing, to all types of audiences including Directors and VPs. This includes writing emails, documents, and hotly debated topics for senior leaders.

  • Lead the resolution of contentious issues, drive escalations, identify and mitigate risks for project delivery, and ensure regular status reporting.

About the team

The Music Machine Learning & Personalization team in Berlin is responsible for foundational ML/AI infrastructure in Amazon Music; providing ML artifacts that capture customer- and content insights; and key primitives for delivering a personalized customer experience, including ranking, experience optimization. The team works closely with other teams in the US (e.g. Seattle, San Francisco), and has a very vibrant, diverse, international, and multi-cultural atmosphere - like Berlin!

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience working directly with engineering teams experience

  • Experience of technical product or program management experience

  • Experience of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience

  • Experience developing and executing/delivering product and technical roadmaps

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management

  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership
