What you'll do...

Hey there, Future Director of Design Strategy and Innovation!

What's the gig?

We're on the hunt for a super talented Director of Design Strategy and Innovation. You'll be the captain of a team of design thinkers, leading the charge in everything from design thinking sessions to creating playbooks for design thinking methods. You'll also be the driving force behind our Design Ops practice and the formation of our Service Design practice. Plus, you'll get to work with our Product Ops and Engineering teams, grow and mentor your team, and be a part of the Design Leadership community in Walmart International. Sounds exciting, right?

What you need to bring to the table:

  • A proven track record of leading design thinking groups in big organizations. We're talking real impact here.

  • A deep understanding of the Design Ops function and the ability to drive it forward.

  • 10-12+ years of experience leading user experience initiatives. You've been around the block a few times.

  • Experience building digital experiences across multiple markets at scale. The more, the merrier!

  • Experience leading or delivering in a Service Design capacity for a complex organization. It's a tough job, but we know you can handle it.

Bonus points if you have:

  • The ability to rise above group think and see beyond the here and now. We love a forward-thinker!

  • Comprehensive knowledge of design thinking and gamification methods/approaches. The more tools in your toolbox, the better.

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. Sunnyvale, California US-04397:The annual salary range for this position is $169,000.00-$338,000.00

Bentonville, Arkansas US-10735:The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00-$260,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...

Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in UI/UX design, graphic design, visual communication, product design, computer science, information technology, or related area and 6 years' experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area. Option 2: 8 years' experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area.

3 years' supervisory experience.

Design certification (for example, IDEOU - Foundations in Design Thinking Certificate), Driving product development in a user experience area, Master's degree in UI/UX Design, Interactive and Visual Design, Product Design, or related area, Related industry experience (for example, retail, supply chain, eCommerce, healthcare), UI/UX, Interactive and Visual Design, Electronics Art, Multimedia Design, or related area, We value candidates with a background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly. The ideal candidate would have knowledge of accessibility best practices and join us as we continue to create accessible products and services following Walmart's accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture.
