Dartmouth Health Medical Assistant Training Program, Putnam Medical Group in Bennington, Vermont
The SVMC Medical Assistant training program is a paid and benefitted full-time position. In addition to classroom, trainees can expect homework and studying outside of the classroom. The course material is taught using a combination of in-person classroom instruction, skills labs, and shadowing within the offices.
SVMC has partnered with CCV to make this program available to qualified applicants.
At the conclusion of the classroom studies and in office training, trainees will sit for their for the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) Exam.
Apprenticeship provides a unique, flexible training system that combines job related technical instruction with structured on-the-job learning experiences. Apprentices have the opportunity to “earn while they learn” as they become more proficient on the job.
Participants in the program will be placed in any of the Putnam Medical Group Outpatient Practices.
Responsibilities:
Medical Assistants (MAs) are valued members of the medical practice team. The MA role is fast-paced, and multi-faceted, with a patient focus and safety, guiding every interaction. Medical Assistants have both clinical and administrative training and education. The MA may schedule appointments, manage clinical documents, answer phones, and greet patients when they arrive. Once trained and a Certified Medical Assistant, the MA may take vital signs, give injections, perform simple diagnostic testing, collect specimens, draw blood, or more, all while maintaining a clean and safe clinical area of care.
