Wisconsin State Job Bank Community Service Officer/Animal Control in BELOIT, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: The City of Beloit Police Department, a department whose personnel are committed to protecting the lives, property and rights of all citizens, is currently accepting applications for the position of Community Service Officer/Animal Control. This is a great opportunity for a committed individual who is interested in a future law enforcement career with the Beloit Police Department. Community Service Officers/Animal Control perform a wide range of field and support duties within the Beloit Police Department. This position performs a variety of routine non-critical public safety and clerical tasks; enforces municipal parking ordinances; keeps official records; responds to citizen requests for service; and performs community policing and traffic-control activities. Community Service Officers/Animal Control are responsible for the enforcement of state and local laws pertaining to the humane treatment of animals. This position involves animal apprehension, rescue and control work ensuring the protection of citizens and welfare of animals; following standard operating policies and procedures for work performed. This position is assigned to field services, parades, property control, community services, animal control, crime scenes, and traffic control. The Community Service Officer/Animal Control is a non-sworn position with no powers to arrest and will work a flexible, rotating shift, including nights, weekends and holidays. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. Must be at least 18 years of age. 2. Must possess a valid driver\'s license and satisfactory driving record. 3. High School Diploma or equivalent. 4. Post high-school education in a criminal justice or law enforcement degree program at an accredited college or university is desired. 5. Experience working with animals is preferred. 6. Must possess a Humane Officer Certification through the State of Wisconsin or have the ability to obtain certification within 1 year of hire and maintain such certification, including required training or statutory requirements. 7. Transaction Information for Management of Enforcement (TIME) certification or the ability to obtain said certification within 1 year of hire and maintain such certification.
