Amazon Sr. Security Compliance Specialist, Kuiper Security in Bellevue, Washington

Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

This role is open for Sunnyvale, CA, Redmond, WA and Herndon, VA locations.

The Senior Security Compliance Specialist in Project Kuiper's Security team will drive regulatory and certification compliance requirements for our world-class cyber and information security throughout Kuiper's technology, systems, and infrastructure. This role is at the forefront of delivering highly secure space and terrestrial broadband telecommunication services for consumer, enterprise, telecom, transportation and government customers around the world.

The successful candidate has experience defining compliance strategy; building and managing security compliance programs with extensive background in risk-based security frameworks for governance and compliance. Someone who thrives in the face of ambiguity, and has a proven track record of delivering high-impact cross-functional goals.

The ideal candidate is technically experienced and innovative security, risk, compliance, and audit professional who has the ability to understand systems, security, and privacy processes, communicate to customers, and to be able to drive innovative process changes through multiple organizations and teams. You have implemented NIST control frameworks, reviewed control activities, evidence collection, and liaised with auditors.

Export Control Requirement:

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key job responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include the following:

  • Work across Kuiper teams and business partners to identify and assess regulatory and compliance requirements for NIST 800-53

  • Support the review of control activities and evidence collection relating to ISO27001

  • Provide business specific interpretations and support automation opportunities

  • Review security controls that are technical in nature, such as access controls, data encryption in transit and at rest, and auditing and logging user activity

  • Engage with the Business and SMEs to ensure compliance to information security policies

  • Liaise with auditors, articulate control implementation and impact, and establish considerations for applying security, privacy and compliance concepts to a technical cloud environment

  • Maintain control libraries and compliance requirements and guidance materials for various security standards and regulations

  • Complete ad hoc data retrieval and analysis using relational databases, Excel, and other data management systems

  • Design and implement reporting solutions from scratch enabling stakeholders to manage the business and make effective decisions.

  • Communicate insights to various levels of key stakeholders

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years’ experience managing product compliance issues, preferably within a technology company, analyzing regulatory requirements, and developing policies and procedures for NIST 800-53

  • Experience working with accredited government auditing and certification bodies

  • Highly organized and able to build trusting relationships with stakeholders at various levels across the organization

  • Experience in large-scale project management roles, preferably in product regulatory compliance

Preferred Qualifications

*Experience working with ITAR and EAR controlled data

*CPA, CMA, CISA, CIA or similar risk, audit, or compliance credentials

*Auditing and/or compliance skills (NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171, etc)

*Experience integrating compliance processes into tools

*Strong data-driven analytical skills, with experience in establishing and tracking program metrics

  • Experience effectively articulating recommendations/conclusions both verbally and in written form

  • Proven ability to balance competing priorities and deliver amidst ambiguity

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $107,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
