What you’ll be working on:
The Senior Manager, Software Engineering (Retail) reports to the Senior Director, Engineering and will be responsible for owning the vision, design, architecture and features that support the customer retail touch points. As a leader you will be leading a team of software and system engineers (FTE & vendor).
You team will build and support the operations of Retail solutions including Point of Sales systems, self-checkout solutions, Loyalty and Discount solutions. The role will require partnering with peer solutions management and engineering teams to identify standards, analyze technology trends to develop a product roadmap that will allow Savers to meet its goals.
In addition to technical expertise, you will contribute to the culture of constant improvement and learning – one that empowers teams to deliver value by meeting customer needs, driving positive business results and supporting Savers’ strategies.
Essential Job Functions:
Lead technical delivery of programs and projects across enterprise IT portfolio.
Gain detailed existing product functionality and architecture knowledge and own the roadmap and drive the evolution of Retail platforms.
Analyze the internal development process and make recommendations for changes.
Manages and coordinates third-party vendors for Retail IT Systems hardware, and software solutions.
Be a champion of continuous delivery culture within the team and cross-functionally with other technical teams (infrastructure, release management, BI, etc.) across Savers.
Demonstrates the ability to translate design document elements into application code and active participation in code and design reviews
Demonstrates leadership qualities and mentors’ others
Helps in developing and documenting Software Development standards and practices.
Understands the Software Development Lifecycle; helps ensure that application enhancements are developed using Saver’s Agile processes that ensure a high degree of software quality.
What you have:
6+ years of managing and leading teams.
5+ years of development/architecture experience
5+ years of experience architecting, developing and managing Retail systems.
Proficiency in C#, ASP.NET and SQL.
Demonstrated success in software development projects from initial concept through deployed solutions.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret a variety of technical information and apply back to the business concepts.
Ability to interact with all levels of the organization
Ability to quickly learn and adopt new technologies
Strong organizational skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Business / Retail Operations background preferred.
Minimum Required Education, Training and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or 8+ years of directly related experience.
