Amazon Software Engineering Manager III, Fulfill To Promise - F2P in Bellevue, Washington

Today, SCOT/SO faces new challenges as it drives to improve efficiency in the Amazon network. This requires the construction and refinement of a comprehensive resource plan followed by modifications to how we make assignment decisions on a local and network-level scale. The F2P team own the platform that makes greedy assignments world wide. It's role is to make the initial cost optimal assignment decision. F2P is a high-throughput, tier 1 system with global impact where small improvements can have significant benefits for our customers, profitability, and the environment.

This space requires a high level of strategy, engagement, execution, and operations to evolve fulfillment capabilities for the next decade, solving 21st-century problems with cutting-edge technologies. Key job responsibilities

A successful candidate will need to be equally comfortable leading SVP-level reviews and interacting with engineers. The top three LPs to be successful in the team are:

About the team

F2P is a large scale order assignment engine, collecting information from a dozen external systems to produce it's candidate space. The system focuses on making cost optimal decisions in near-real time on groups of related orders across the globe.

Sitting at the confluence of several independent controllers, F2P plays a critical role in enabling SCOT to experiment and move quickly. Engineers and Managers on the team have a Day One, fail-fast mindset with little tolerance for accumulating technical debt. Operational Excellence is a high priority, and defect leakage must be kept to a minimum. The team operates with CI/CD and Pair Programming practices.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
