Amazon Software Development Manager, Delivery Experience - Regionalization Engineering in Bellevue, Washington

Description

As a Software Development Manager for Amazon's Delivery Experience Regionalization Engineering team, you'll lead a skilled software development team that creates innovative technology services that power core algorithms for Amazon's customers worldwide. This team builds signals that are integrated into core algorithms (e.g., search ranking model) to promote fast and regional selection for a better customer shopping experience. You will ensure that we have the most compelling and relevant personalized delivery experience available to our customers. Additionally, you will help drive continuous innovation and improvement of the delivery experience through the use of Artificial Intelligence and machine learning.

Your role involves building infrastructure, collaborating with the science team on machine learning solutions, and making a significant impact on customer satisfaction and Amazon's retail business. You'll focus on simple, scalable solutions while hiring, training, and supporting engineers to foster their growth and leadership.

Key job responsibilities

  • Establish and execute short and long-term architectural roadmaps for the business

  • Manage a development team focused on creating the complex back-end architecture

  • Improve the efficiency and flexibility of the business application while ensuring that customer trust, performance, and availability remain at an exceptionally high level.

Amazon's Delivery Experience Regionalization Engineering team builds signals that are integrated into core algorithms (e.g., search ranking model) to promote fast and regional selection for a better customer shopping experience.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Bellevue, WA, USA

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Previous experience in launching large-scale machine learning solutions.

  • Experience in mentoring junior software engineers to enhance their skills and effectiveness as product software engineers. Also, experienced in playing a leading role in building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers.

  • Proficiency in delivering low-latency, consumer-internet-scale web services in a 24x7 environment.

  • Experience in mentoring and training the engineering community on complex technical issues.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with users, other technical teams, and senior management to gather requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.

  • Skill in influencing best practices for software engineers within your team. Hands-on expertise in various technologies, ranging from front-end user interfaces to back-end systems and everything in between.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
