Amazon Software Development Engineer II, Global Logistics in Bellevue, Washington

Description

As a Software Development Engineer II in Global Logistics, you will be responsible for developing scalable systems and services, utilizing cutting-edge technology (e.g., machine learning, big data, etc.) to enable world-class global logistics solutions. Your goal will be to make the cross-border shipping experience from all origin marketplaces as simple, fast, and reliable as domestic shipping for our customers in 190+ countries.

Key job responsibilities

  • Leverage the capabilities of world-class logistics providers and internal Amazon supply chain solutions to increase selection and lower costs for our customers.

  • Build large-scale distributed systems handling millions of packages being shipped through our network, utilizing workflows, optimization algorithms, machine learning systems, etc.

  • Solve complex problems in worldwide transportation through innovative solutions.

  • Provide technical leadership to the team, drive best practices, mentor other engineers, and promote continuous improvements in engineering excellence.

  • Support the rapid evolution and growth of the transportation network by working on key initiatives.

A day in the life

In this role, you will work on challenging projects that involve developing and optimizing complex systems for global logistics operations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Managers, Program Managers, Supply Chain Managers, Strategists, Analysts, and Operations Managers, to build a global network that improves speed, reduces costs, and brings selection closer to customers.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
