Job Description
Job Summary:
Design of new or improved medical imaging equipment to ensure safe operation, reliability, durability, serviceability, cost-effectiveness, ease of manufacturing, assembly and testing, conformance to regulatory requirements, patient safety and comfort. This position will be responsible for all engineering activities related to a specific project including but not limited to conceptual design, detailed design, validation, documentation, test support, prototyping, quality assurance and production build support.
Responsibilities:
• Provide technical expertise in all phases of development process from initial concept through final product release.
• Develop system concepts that meet customer needs and business objectives while ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Work closely with cross functional teams to develop user interface designs, mechanical layouts, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, bill of materials, drawings and other necessary documentation for both internal use and external submissions.
• Create detailed drawings using CAD software tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD Inventor or Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire.
• Design components to minimize cost, weight, size, noise, vibration, heat generation and other factors influencing performance.
• Develop test methods and perform testing on prototype systems prior to full scale production release.
• Participate in establishing manufacturing processes and tolerance stack up analysis.
• Assist with documenting results of tests conducted by suppliers or independent laboratories.
• Perform root cause analysis of field issues, create corrective action plans and implement solutions.
• Provide feedback to purchasing regarding vendor selection and material specification.
• Support operations and service personnel during start-up phase at customer sites.
• Troubleshoot problems arising during installation, commissioning or maintenance.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required plus minimum 8 years relevant experience preferred. Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent preferred.
• Experience working with international customers desirable.
• Proficiency in English language, verbal and written.
• Strong analytical skills, problem solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently under general direction.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
• Ability to travel abroad approximately 10% per year.
• Working knowledge of CAD software tools.
