Job#: 2032297Job Description:Apex Systems is searching for qualified candidates for anOptical Transport Engineerposition based inBedminster, NJ!If interested in thisOptical Transport Engineer, or any other opportunities in the Branchburg, NJ area, send a resume to Rachuel Tritt at [email protected].Pay Range: 42$-46.75$/hourly based off experience and backgroundThe Ultra Long Haul (ULH) Route Planner/Optical Transport Engineer is responsible for defining, engineering, and resolving network capacity requirements for our clients ultra-long haul transport network. They will utilize high capacity next generation lightwave and wave division multiplexing technologies to meet network services capacity, vulnerability, diversity and growth requirements.Perform equipment engineering, develop specifications for installation, turn-up, inventory, and configuration of equipmentIssue purchase orders, create diagrams/drawings, and ensuring vendor delivery.Diversity analysis for internal groups in support of future customer orders, mesh network growth, and converged core data networks.Monitor and optimize ULH network segments. Perform wavelength rearrangements as needed to reduce stranded network capacity. Research and deactivate unused network systems.Research and identify ULH segments in need of overbuild due to future expiration of fiber/cable/conduit/property leases, network growth, requests for network diversity, and decommissioning of legacy DWDM platforms.Strategic support for Intelligent Edge Network (iEN) expansion.Coordinate with COE and leased vendors for space/power, leased cable segments.Coordinate with contracts to acquire leased cables/conduit. Coordinate with OSP to build and splice owned fiber assets.Coordinate with real estate to acquire properties for building regen shelters as needed to support fiber path.Forecast and prioritize 12+ month forecast of network builds to capital planning and detail multi-year programs for DWDM platform decommissioning.Support Global Transport Network Operations Center by identifying planned maintenance events on leased and owned cable routes as well as provide ad-hoc restoration for priority systems in the event of cable outages.Coordinate with lease contracts organization, capital planning, engineering, project management, operations/RCAT, and internal management to provide reports to detail project progress and identify areas where attention is needed to progress projects.What we're looking for...Youll need to have:Bachelors degree or four or more years of work experience.Four or more years of relevant work experience.Even better if you have:A degree in engineering or related field.5+ years experience in the telecommunications industry.Experience with engineering, Planning, and/or Operations knowledge, especially with Local and Long-Haul Telecommunications networksExcellent knowledge of PC and software application including Windows and MS Office.Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple, often conflicting priorities to their successful completion.Excellent verbal & written skills for inter-organizational communications to both internal & externa; partners.Experience making independent decisions based on policies, practices & project requirements.EEO EmployerApex Systems is an equal opportunity employer.
