General Summary:
The mission of Learning Lighthouse Child Development Center is to provide exceptional child development services to employees of Portage Learning and the surrounding community. The Group Supervisor at Learning Lighthouse Child Development Center will directly oversee their room, ensuring compliance with all DPW regulations, providing daily instruction, and directly supervising Assistant Group Supervisors and volunteers within the classroom. The number of children for which the Group Supervisor is responsible for will vary based on placement, accommodating operational needs as required.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

- Leadership: Assuming responsibility for the classroom.
- Delegating Tasks: Provides instruction to the Assistant Group Supervisor and the Aide. Assigns and monitors task progress, provides feedback, and adjusts assignments as necessary to maintain quality of care.
- Lesson Plans: Adapting the lesson plans of the facility to align with the students' age group and teaching style to enhance the child's abilities.
- Teaching: Implement lesson plans in daily activities to focus on learning, play, and kindergarten readiness skills as outlined by the childcare facility.
- Record Maintenance: Maintain records of individual children including daily observations, activities, meals served, and medications administered.
- Classroom Duties: Teaching, supervising assistants, preparing lesson plans, creating crafts, and communicating with parents.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned that pertain to the specific classroom. (ie..bottle feeding, diaper changing, stroller walks, etc..)
Knowledge/Skills Required:
- Exceptional teaching skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to uphold strict confidentiality standards.
- Knowledge of child development and behavior management techniques.
- Passion for teaching and the ability to build trusting relationships with children and parents.
- Strong leadership.
- Knowledge of DPW regulation and an exceptional knowledge of Keystone Stars.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications (Education Requirements/Experience):
- Associate or bachelor's in early education, special education, elementary education, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience within the childcare field.
- Demonstrated agreement with the stated mission, philosophy, values, and goals of Learning Lighthouse.
- Current and/or ability to obtain the following clearances: Child Abuse, State Police, FBI Fingerprinting, National Sex Offender Registry and Mandated Reporter for Child Abuse.
- Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification within the first 90 days of hire.
Requirements
Work Environment:
This role involves working in an office and a childcare facility, requiring the use of standard office and childcare equipment.

- The employee is regularly require to sit, talk, and hear, as well as use their hands for lifting and handling or feeling objects. They are also frequently required to reach with their hands and arms. Additionally, they may occasionally need to stand, walk, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- May require the ability to walk to different locations, stand, lift, carry, and move light to medium weights.
- Light lifting is required. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force to constantly move objects.
Position Types and Expected Hours to work:
This is a full-time position with a minimum of 40 hours expected per week. Must be able to work from daycare located in Chippewa Township, PA.
