Summary

This position is responsible for managing the team of Contract Specialists, as well as projects and processes within the Contract Management function for DSI. Working with and reporting to the Head of Legal Operations, this position identifies and implements improvements to the contract management function; is responsible for measuring the contract management progress against objectives (e.g., metric reporting); supervises and delegates work to Contract Specialists; manages contract-related policies and procedures; provides training; works directly with attorneys on negotiation of legal language of contracts and vendor negotiation; and manages enhancements of the contract management system as well as reporting needs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and manages the daily operations of the Contract Management process for DSI business partners. Leads a team of Contract Management professionals and acts as the main point of contact for customer inquiries regarding the process. Manager also handles contract requests, creates and maintains a database of these requests, and updates it as needed. Additionally, prepares contracts and collaborates with internal clients and external vendors. The Manager works closely with company attorneys to review legal language in agreements and, if necessary, negotiates with the opposing party, with attorney support, to resolve any disputes. It also addresses any issues that are escalated by the Contract Management team.

  • Lead, manage and contribute to specific projects as needed, including implementation of revised contract management procedures and guidelines, prepare training materials across DSI, and review/address contract management issues as they arise with Head of Legal Operations. Lead the revision of template language, management of templates, overseeing department exception guidance documents and facilitating the FMV Process

  • Responsible for managing and maintaining key elements of the electronic Contract Lifecycle Management system (CLM) functionality, manages strategic implementation of new procedure/systems, and is responsible for quality control, including, contract templates, component libraries and alternate contract language document. Also responsible for assisting in leading and implementing changes and enhancements to the CLM system, building business case requirements and interfacing directly with other departments (Finance, DX Unit, external consultants) on implementation of enhancements and system requirements, as well as assist in the decision making related to systems impact on policy. Prepare training materials and conduct training for all system users and Legal and Corporate Affairs staff as appropriate.

  • Provides continuous training on process and technology for system to ensure compliance by all users of the systems. Assists in preparing training materials and conducting of training to both large and small groups of employees (administrative staff).

  • Collaborate with DX Unit to develop and produce contract reports monthly. Oversee the quarterly audit of exception guidance contracts within CLM. Run ad hoc reports as needed.

Education (from an accredited college or university)

  • Bachelor's Degree required

Experience

  • 4 or More Years 5+ pharmaceutical and/or corporate contracting experience required

  • 1 or More Years 3+ managing process and/or people preferred
