Abbott Business Unit Manager – Abbott Vascular in Bangkok, Thailand

We are looking for an experienced Business Unit Manager to join our Vascular business based at our head office in Bangkok.

As a Business Unit Manager, you will provide the TH sales team with the leadership, direction, and resources to ensure business and people goals are achieved and sales strategies and processes are applied by the team.

You will need to operate with a leadership mindset to win and contribute growth to a culture where our people thrive, succeed, and help us to deliver on our purpose. To do this, you will need to be agile and adjust your approach in the face of obstacles. You are required to execute the marketing plans and programs to help the division maximize sales, market share, and profit from the portfolio.

Main responsibilities are, and not limited to:

  • Managing all sales people-related issues

  • Directing the activities of the national sales and marketing group for the achievement of short, medium and long-term business objectives, increased profit and market share

  • Translating marketing strategies into day to day working sales and promotional strategy and driving this through the sales team

  • Maintain consistent contact with major suppliers, key customers, industry associations and government representatives to achieve the objectives of the division

  • Manages P&L to deliver financial commitments as well as optimize short-term performance and long-term growth.

  • Conducts regular business reviews to ensure execution against plan.

  • Develop and manage the expense budget within plan

  • Actively seek, identify, analyze, and present new business opportunities and improvement ideas to senior management

  • Participate in the development of annual sales volume and profit forecasts, pricing and expense budgets

  • Prepare and manage the marketing expenditure budget

  • Partner with sales & scientific management and relevant departments to update product training to sales and customer service teams

  • Maintain up-to-date information and understanding of market, competitor and consumer behavior

  • Anticipates and manages financial, governmental, and commercial risks.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline with an MBA degree or equivalent preferred.

  • Role models inclusive leadership, integrity and influenced based leadership.

  • Minimum of 10 years demonstrated success in a sales role within the devices healthcare industry preferably with 2 or more years in senior management roles and marketing experience; proven track record of effective sales management, strategic planning, and collaborating across a highly matrixed organization.

  • Experience in Interventional Cardiology, Endovascular, PCI optimization (Imaging & Physiology), Atherectomy Devices or other technically demanding clinical fields will be an advantage.

  • Demonstrated capability in influencing and impacting business strategy

  • Strong financial, analytical and business acumen partnered with and understanding of industry dynamics and trends

  • Flexibility to travel on a frequent basis

  • Ability to understand our technologies as well as the needs and demands of the customers and the markets we serve

  • Capable of risk-based analysis and decision making with ability to digest and quickly grasp large amounts of data and to recognize key issues and ideas

  • Excellent understanding of regulatory, QA and legal policies/environment that govern our processes
