Job Summary

As a Research Specialist, you shall draw on, and develop your specialist knowledge to deliver focused research and development in the TRL1-6 range and in concept development, demonstrator and insertion projects. You will make use of and develop your knowledge of our strategical products and technologies. You will have a logical and methodical approach to planning technical work/experiments. You will be able to discuss and develop complex technical principles and concepts as part of a broader technical team. You shall focus primarily in developing Systems Engineering capability and create framework on systems engineering activities. Demonstrate the capability by creating MBSE models on Aero engine components during concept and development phases.

Job Responsibilities

You will seek to understand the strategic direction of your specialist field and the strategic direction of our products and key technologies. You will support planning of technical work. You will contribute to Technology Development Plans and Technology Business Cases related to your specialization field. You will demonstrate a commitment to innovation and technical quality in your specialization field - leading to high quality Technology Readiness Level gates, Notional Type Designs and/or Design Reviews. You will support any necessary 'hands on' development test work and development trials. You will be responsible for originating and issuing high quality and detailed technical documentation. You will be expected to review technical reports. You will be expected to supervise interns and master thesis students when required. You will support on boarding of new employees in your area of specialization. You will drive maturity of technologies in your specialist field, and undertake technical problem solving in your specialist field, including support with operational issues from time to time. You will develop and maintain long-term ecosystem relationships in your specialist field for the benefit of the projects, aligned with the company strategy and direction from the Chief Technologist(s). You will ensure adherence to environmental health and safety (EHS) policies and procedures for your activities, and you will contribute to a proactive EHS culture in the wider team. Job Qualifications

Required: Holds relevant technical qualifications - Bachelor, Master or equivalent with a relevant level of experience to perform the engineering tasks. 5+ years of experience gained within an aerospace environment and in multi-disciplinary engineering project teams with a demonstrated experience in systems engineering and associated knowledge. Key responsibilities are: Develop, implement, and check technical solutions for System engineering models to ensure they are compliant with MBSE arcadia methodologies. Good working knowledge on using Capella SMW tool. Demonstrate complete V model of SE on aero-engine components. Establish a process for requirements management process. Has good knowledge on Operational, System & Logical Architectures & various block diagrams. Has deep understanding of Engines and its component functionalities. Perform all activities at a level of minimal supervision and guide other engineers within the work package as required. Specific: Must possess a high level of engineering functional knowledge with considerable experience of working with developing new products for aerospace engines. Must have a very good understanding of Jet Engine operational architecture and processes. Perform functional decomposition of system functions and develop requirements, perform three way mapping of requirements, functions and logical elements. Ability to identify and implement model-based architecture and engineering methods and standards. Develop and extend system models using existing requirements, interface documentation, and related design and systems engineering documents. Contribute to System Engineering method development. Must possess a working knowledge in System engineering to ensure models are compliant with MBSE arcadia methodologies. Essential: Able to act under own initiative in relation to the relevant work package boundaries within defined functional procedures / governance. Ability to describe and present technical information of a technical work package to a wide audience at equivalent levels within the engineering business. Able to promote Lean Principles including leading a Continuous Improvement Project (“CIP”) within a work package. Demonstrates good mentoring & technical knowledge transfer as part of day-to-day activities. The ability to act as a functional/ technical/ integration representative in communications with customers, sub-tier suppliers (structure, systems) and suppliers (parts, materials, sub-assemblies) in a work package. Demonstrates a commercial awareness to be able to analyse customer requirements. Must possess a high level of technical problem solving skills.
