WSP USA Stream Restoration Project Manager in Baltimore, Maryland

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Stream Restoration Project Manager for our Baltimore, MD office. The successful candidate will lead the delivery of multiple ecological restoration projects with additional hydrologic and have experience with hydraulic (H&H) in support of resiliency and restoration projects. This is an excellent leadership position in an internationally recognized global firm in a field designated for rapid growth.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead business development activities in Maryland, identify pursuit opportunities, lead pursuit activities for specific projects, and manage client relationships.

• Provide engineering services and project/task management of ecological restoration and H&H modeling. Local and state experience on ecological restoration design projects and MS4/TMDL crediting opportunities is preferred.

• Mentor younger staff in the development of their design skills, including in the latest restoration design focused on Maryland and local requirements.

• Coordinate complex multi-disciplinary projects.

• Coordinate, review and approve design plans, ensuring data integrity and work is compliant with all applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.

• Permitting, public participation, and coordinating/interacting with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.

• Oversee and monitor cross-functional teams in executing projects including project budgets, tracking hours and expenses, and task completion.

• Collaborate with professionals from a variety of disciplines to provide future ready solutions for clients.

• Remain current in latest H&H moodeling standards and restoration engineering techniques.

• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.

• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Water Resources Engineering or closely related discipline.

• Professional Engineer license required. Maryland and District of Columbia P.E. licenses preferred.

• 10+ years of relevant post-education experience in the A/E/C industry with a technical client-facing background in the water resources sector.

• Knowledge of clients, opportunities and competition in Maryland.

• Demonstrated success in strategic selling. Ability to translate complicated technical information into sales messages.

• Experience stream and ecological restoration design including with hydraulic modeling of open-channel systems.

• The ability to manage several projects concurrently, provide senior-level input and evaluation on projects, and serve as technical leader.

• Proficient knowledge of related engineering principles, practices, process, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.

• Well-defined knowledge with Stream Restoration, Hydrology & Hydraulics Design, Watershed Studies, Floodplain Delineation, etc.

• Experience with project and client development/relationship management.

• Proficient ability to coordinate with agency regulators and understand requirements.

• Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.

• Demonstrated high-level of self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.

• Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.

• Proficient understanding of and well-defined experience with surface water analysis, hydrologic methodologies/models, hydraulic models, and with software tools for project delivery including AutoCAD, MicroStation, Bentley design products, project collaboration software, and ArcGIS software.

• Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, statistical

analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.

• Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating and assertively directing subconsultants and others to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently.

Compensation:

Expected Salary: $135,000 - $160,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
