Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has an immediate opening for a Geographic Information System (GIS) Specialist At TCEQ, protecting the environment is at the heart of everything we do. Do you have experience with: ESRI ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise for the building of web maps, dashboards, or stories through a web browser. Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro or ArcGIS Desktop in the development of map services or maps for print. Experience delivering map products or performing spatial analysis with Java, JavaScript, Python, ArcPy, JavaScript API for GIS How you make a difference Play a key role in achieving TCEQs mission by working as a part of the divisions Information Resources to complete complex GIS projects. Provide direction in creating ArcGIS Web maps, Dashboards, and Stories that incorporate multiple spatial data layers and environmental data for agency use. Provide support for creating Map Services and ensure agency standards are met for map products delivered over a browser. Modify print products, including maps, graphs, or diagrams, using geographical information software and related equipment for resource development and management, identifying environmental hazards, regional cultural history, and urban social planning. Manage spatial databases of relevant information and validate data for accuracy and completeness. Assist with gathering, compiling, and distributing geospatial content from multiple sources that apply to the TCEQ mission. Qualifications: Minimum Requirements Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in computer science, computer information systems, geography, geographic information system technology, management information systems, geology, physical science, environmental studies, or a related field, plus two years experience in GIS systems analysis and design. OR Any combination of education and experience where one year of full-time experience in GIS systems substitutes for 30 hours of education. OR a graduate degree in the field substitutes for I year of experience. OR Completion of 30 semester hours from an accredited college in computer science or 600 clock hours from a licensed vocational, technical, or business school in computer science, plus four years of full-time experience in GIS systems analysis and design.
