YOUR FUTURE TEAM As part of TCEQs Office of Water, you would contribute to ensuring clean and available water and protecting Texas water resources. Qualifications: KEY QUALIFICATIONS Experience in the engineering design of and/or performing plans/specification review of wastewater treatment plants and/or collection systems. Experience conducting technical reviews for environmental proposals and/or permits (such as, reviewing or preparing wastewater permit applications, reviewing proposals related to water quality or wastewater programs, and other environmental permitting areas). Experience with the Texas Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (TPDES) or other state/federal water quality regulatory programs. HERES WHAT YOULL BE DOING... Review and evaluate municipal state and Texas Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (TPDES) applications and write associated permits for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). Perform engineering work at a professional level for reviewing applications and preparing TCEQ and TPDES municipal individual and/or general permits and/or authorizations in accordance with state and federal rules, policies, and guidelines. Communicate information concerning permits, the permitting process, and engineering to agency staff, the general public, and the regulated community; attends meetings, and responds to telephone calls and letters received. Respond to comments on assigned permits; revise permits, and other documents as needed. Prepare response to comments on documents. Perform or participate in special projects and/or assignments as assigned. EDUCATION EXPERIENCE General Engineering Specialist I: A bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited college or university. General Engineering Specialist II: A bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited college or university, plus one year of full-time engineering experience. OR State of Texas Engineer-in-Training (Fundamentals of Engineering) certification, plus six months of full-time engineering experience. OR A master's degree in engineering, environmental science, or related fields from an accredited college or university. General Engineering Specialist III: A bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited college or university, plus two years of full-time engineering experience. An Engineer-in-training (E.I.T.) certificate will substitute for six months of the required experience. A master's degree in engineering, environmental science, or related fields from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of the required experience. A doctorate in engineering, environmental science, or related fields from an accredited college or university may substitute for two years of the required experience. General Engineering Specialist IV: A bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited college or university, plus four years of full-time engineering experience. An Engineering-in-training (E.I.T.) certificate will substitute for six months of the required experience. A master's degree in engineering, environmental science, or related fields from an accredited college or niversity may substitute for one year of the required experience. A doctorate in engineering, environmental science, or related fields from an accredited college or university may substitute for two years of the required experience. General Engineering Specialist V: A bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited college or university, plus five years of full-time engineering experience. An Engineering-in-training (E.I.T.) certificate will substitute for six months of the required experience. A master's degree in engineering, environmental science, or related fields from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of the required experience. A doctorate in engineering, environmental science, or related fields from an accredited college or university may substitute for two years of the required experience.
