Amazon Software Development Engineer, Amazon Devices - Connectivity SW in Austin, Texas

Description

The Amazon Connectivity team designs connectivity software solutions for Amazon devices encompassing wide range of products including the Fire TV family of devices.

This position is for a seasoned Software Development Engineer in the Wi-Fi SW connectivity organization. You can be part of a fast-paced, agile and innovative team who is bringing new connectivity experiences to the exciting range of devices in a startup like environment.

Key job responsibilities

As a Software Development Engineer - Connectivity, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to innovate and deliver high-performance, low-power, stable connectivity platform for world class consumer products. You must be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within an open and collaborative peer environment. In this role, you will:

· Design, develop and enhance Wi-Fi software for Amazon's consumer products;

· Optimize Wi-Fi performance and power consumption for connectivity platforms;

· Engage with vendors to integrate Wi-Fi chipset solutions;

· Collaborate with other software teams to design and deliver unique customer features on top of Wi-Fi for next-gen Amazon products;

· Provide Amazon Customer Support technical assistance to trouble shoot customer issues;

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design

  • Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence

  • Hands-on experience in IEEE802.11/Wi-Fi protocols and extensions · Experience with Wi-Fi development and debugging tools such as wireless sniffers and protocol analyzers · Experience with Android and Linux development on kernel, device drivers, and frameworks ·

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have prior experience with Wi-Fi solutions from one or more major Wi-Fi chipset vendors · Strong knowledge of TCP/IP internals and common Networking protocols such as DHCP, DNS, HTTP, and etc.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
