ASRC Federal Holding Company Software Engineer (C/C++) in Atlantic City, New Jersey

ASRC Federal Technical Services is seeking a Software Engineer to join our team that supports the Federal Aviation Administration in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. This role will make an impact by meeting the future needs of our FAA customer that includes securing data across networks in the enterprise.

  • The person in this position will be responsible for providing software/adaptation analysis, design/development, testing, and system integration for the Terminal Flight Data Manager (TFDM)program. Applicable functional areas include proficiency and knowledge of real-time design, development, testing and interfacing of software and computer hardware systems. Comprehensive software development skills and experience with programming languages used for National Airspace Systems (NAS) and NAS support systems.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • The person in this position will work specifically with the TFDM Software Development Team using C/C++, Java, XML, Javascript, shell scripting, database concepts (Postgres and/or Oracle), GIS Tools, Red Hat Linux, Ada, Redmine, Git, and various homegrown tools.

  • TFDM Lab assignments and Data Collection is essential.

  • Ability to communicate technical issues with non-technical people

  • Perform Data collection, Software Installations, and Workstation Backups.

  • Perform adaptation/software analysis and implement code fixes, adaptation changes, and new functionality.

  • Perform peer/code reviews.

  • Ability to work individually and within a group/team.

  • Ability to take direction and initiative; ability to provide direction and training.

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Math, or a Bachelor’sdegree in another technical field with a minimum of thirty (30)semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, andcomputer science and fifteen (15) years of related work experience ina computer science or math field OR Master’s Degree in any field ofstudy with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours of eitherundergrad or grad study in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and twelve (12) years related work experience in a computer science or math field. OR PhD or Doctorial in a related field with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours of either undergrad or grad study in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and three (3) years of related work experience ina computer science or math or math field.

  • Technical Adapter/Software Developer with knowledge in C/C++, Java, XML, Shell Scripting, Java Script, Database Concepts, UNIX/LINUX, and the ability to communicate technical issues with non-technical people.

  • All candidates are required to have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to work in a fast paced and challenging environment.

Preferred:

  • Technical Adapter/Software Developer with the required knowledge plusAda, Perl Scripting, Python, Geographic Information System (GIS) Tools, and Red Hat Linux.

  • In addition, experience in TFDM/STARS/NAS, Test, Redmine (or another project management tool), Git (or another configuration management tool), and Microsoft Office (specifically Word and Excel).

Bonus:

  • Technical Adapter/Software Developer with the required and preferred knowledge plus experience in HTML/XHTML, QT, JSON, SQL, and Shell scripting.

Security:

  • US Citizenship or documented proof of eligibility to work in the US

  • Has been living in the US for at least the past 3 years

  • Successful candidate is subject to a background investigation by the government and must be able to meet the requirements to hold a position of public trust

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Desk/lab located at the FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center in EHT, NJ

  • Limited (25% or less) travel to locations throughout the US
