THE POSITION

As a Lead Software Engineer here at Honeywell, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing features for the Unisim Design (USD) process model simulation software. Your expertise in software development and simulation will contribute to the continuous improvement and growth of our software solutions.

You will report directly to our Software Engineering Manager for USD and work out of our Atlanta, Georgia location on a hybrid work schedule. You will work closely with the domain team in Calgary Alberta Canada and the India team in Bangalore.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact by developing innovative features and functionalities for the USD software. You will collaborate with cross-functional global teams to gather requirements, design software solutions, and ensure seamless integration with existing systems. Your technical expertise and leadership skills will be instrumental in driving the success of our software development projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and design software solutions for the Unisim Design process model simulation software.

  • Develop and implement innovative features and functionalities to enhance the performance and usability of the software.

  • Conduct thorough testing and debugging of software to ensure high quality and reliability.

  • Participate in Agile, Scrum or hybrid development methodology, collaborating with other developers on the team.

  • Collaborate with software architects and engineers to ensure seamless integration with existing systems.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior software engineers.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to drive continuous improvement in software development processes.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

  • 8+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on simulation software.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, C#, VB.Net and Python.

  • Strong knowledge of software development methodologies and best practices.

  • 4 years experience with simulation software development and modeling.

PREFERRED

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience with process model simulation software, such as Unisim Design.

  • Experience working with Chemical Engineers.

  • Knowledge of process engineering and industrial automation.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Diverse and global teaming and collaboration.

  • Experience executing Agile software methodology.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

  • Convey subtle or complex messages clearly, as appropriate for the topic and audience

  • Experience modernizing the UI of C++/.Net applications

  • Experience integrating 3rd party tools with C++/C# applications

  • Experience converting complex 32 bit windows application to a 64 bit multi-threaded application.

  • Experience working with process models related to: gas flaring, heat exchangers, furnaces, blowdown, electrolyzer.

  • Knows the difference between steady state and dynamic process simulation.

  • Awareness of Aspen Plus/HYSYS, UniSim Design

  • Has worked with Chemical Engineers
