CBRE is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Director of Multifamily Portfolio Strategy to lead our portfolio initiatives within the multifamily capital markets division. This role requires a blend of analytical expertise, strategic thinking, and exceptional communication skills. The ideal candidate will be responsible for synthesizing information related to clients’ multifamily portfolios, applying current market trends to develop strategic insight on their holdings, and developing actionable acquisition, disposition, and financing strategies to enhance our multifamily portfolio advisory practice. Additionally, this position will play a critical role in managing internal collaboration across multiple local market brokerage teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, uniform content to our clients, and refining our financial modeling processes and output.
What You’ll Do:
Oversee all underwriting processes related to client portfolio holdings, integrating leading-edge equity & debt strategies into the financial aspects of pitch materials.
Develop and enhance financial models and underwriting processes, improving efficiency, uniformity, and speed of quality input for our clients’ multifamily investments.
Manage internal stakeholders across CBRE’s multifamily capital markets teams to gather quality content from local market partners within specified timelines, ensuring alignment with the strategic objectives for each national portfolio opportunity. Review and enhance internal partner content to ensure clarity, consistency, and quality across all materials, maintaining CBRE’s high standards.
Translate data and trends pertinent to the multifamily capital markets, identifying opportunities and risks that could impact each portfolio execution.
Write and develop compelling content for pitch materials, offering memorandums, and investor communications that accurately and succinctly reflect CBRE’s competitive positioning in the market relative to each portfolio opportunity.
Ensure all outputs meet high standards of quality and presentation, reflecting the professionalism and expertise of CBRE.
Continuously seek opportunities to improve internal processes, enhance presentations & financial modeling, and refine CBRE’s approach to multifamily portfolio dispositions and financings.
Lead proactive outreach efforts and follow-ups with prospective investors to build relationships and drive investment opportunities within the multifamily sector.
Actively participates in all stages of deal execution including initial pitch, due diligence, market research, marketing materials, financial modeling, investor outreach, buyer due diligence, and contract negotiation.
Assist in managing the team’s income and expenses, ensuring optimal allocation and utilization of resources against the team’s annual budget.
What You’ll Need:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
8+ years of experience in multifamily real estate strategy, portfolio management, or investment analysis, with a focus on equity & debt capital markets.
Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to interpret complex data and market trends specific to multifamily assets.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for crafting clear and persuasive content tailored to investors.
Demonstrated experience in financial modeling and underwriting in the multifamily capital markets sector.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
High proficiency in excel modeling and presentation development.
