We are seeking a talented General Ledger Accounting Manager to join our dynamic team as we grow.
The responsibilities revolve around a wide range of accounting functions that play a crucial role ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data. The GL Accounting Manager will be heavily involved in providing solutions, best practices, policies, procedures, key controls, and transactional oversight to various entities within a private equity backed firm. This role will report directly to the Controller who oversees General ledger, Financial Reporting, and Treasury.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Manage the Company’s month-end close processes
Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of SMX’s general ledger and financial reporting structure and systems
Perform variance analysis to identify and explain material changes or anomalies to the financial statements
Ensure the timely and accurate reporting of all monthly financial information, including journal entries and account reconciliations
Enhance department structure, including roles and responsibilities, to position team for future growth.
Managing the complex and cross-functional process of combining operations and systems or any other integration activities related to acquisitions
Formulate, recommend, and participate in the development and implementation of changes to policy and procedure to ensure integrity and scalability of the general ledger system
Develop and implement internal controls and procedures to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting
Maintain general ledger chart of accounts and account mapping
Monitor and analyze departmental workflow to build efficiency and accuracy though resource management.
Ensure accounting transactions are in compliance with governmental, regulatory, and legislative requirements and Company policies
Train, mentor, and develop staff withing the general ledger team.
Support internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support
Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulation to ensure compliance
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Experience
Bachelor’s Degree required. Preference will be given to candidates with a BS in Accounting, but Finance and other Business Administration degrees will be considered
10+ years of accounting experience in a government contracting environment
5+ years of managerial and/or direct leadership experience
Advanced experience in Deltek Costpoint a must
Strong working knowledge of GAAP, FAR, and compliance within highly regulated environments
Desired Skills/Experience
Experience working with DCAA and DCMA including audit support
A strong attention to detail with a focus on analytics, and highly organized
Proactive learning ability, a strong work ethic, and a high level of personal integrity
Strong oral and written communication skills
Prior experience working in fast-paced accounting organization, preferably in a PE setting

The proposed salary for this position is:
$101,000—$168,600 USD
