Ohio University Manager of Library Services, Zanesville in Athens, Ohio

Job Description:

The Manager of Library Services serves as the primary liaison to Ohio University Zanesville and Zane State College students, faculty, and staff. This position delivers, manages, and assesses services, and delivers curricular and research support on the Zanesville campus. This position works collaboratively with other Libraries’ staff to ensure equitable access to resources and services, and to advance the strategic goals of the Libraries’ and the University.

Serves as the Libraries’ liaison to the students, faculty, and staff at Ohio University Zanesville and Zane State. Builds relationships and collaborates with faculty to integrate library materials into Ohio University’s research and curricular efforts. Provides research and reference services and information literacy instruction to Ohio University undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, staff, and members of the public. Manages access to the physical collections and the operation of services at the Zanesville location. Trains and supports students and staff who assist with the local operations, schedules the desk, and works with the Athens campus to ensure optimal operation of services. Supervises staff who provides acquisitions, cataloging, OhioLINK borrowing, and circulation support for both institutions.

Supports Ohio University- Zanesville and Zane State campus operations as assigned by the Dean of Campus and Community Relations, Zanesville campus. Assists in the facilitation of the campus UC 1000 committee; convenes regular meetings of the committee to plan for current and upcoming semesters. Reviews data from UC 1000 course evaluations as well as instructor feedback and assists in planning for modifications as needed. Works with the committee to facilitate the development and evaluation of student assignments. Assists in the coordination and planning of new student orientation activities such as Bobcat Blitz.

As a member of the Learning Services department, actively participates in the work of the department which may include projects to support digital humanities tools in the classroom, professional development for instructors and librarians on information literacy, development of asynchronous library learning objects, and programming for affordable learning initiatives.

Contributes to the work the Libraries in providing instruction, consultation, and collection development and management support through disciplinary teamwork. Works collaboratively and cooperatively within and across teams to make resource decisions that reflect sound fiscal management, provides library instruction and consultation services in response to instructor and student needs, and ensures the needs of the curriculum and research are sufficiently supported by the Libraries’ collections. Advances and supports the strategic plan and goals of the Libraries and the University, participates in Libraries’ committees, and engages in professional opportunities as part of the continuing commitment to bringing best practices and innovative services to the Libraries.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Library and Information Science or closely related field

A minimum of 1 year supervisory/management experience required

A minimum of 1 year of work-related experience required

A combination of significant and relevant experience and education may also be considered.

Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Hiring range is $51,281 to $67,947.
