SAIC Database Engineer in ARLINGTON, Virginia
Description
SAIC is seeking a (4) Database Engineers to support of the Department of Defense (DoD) Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD). The ideal candidate will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining database solutions that support our applications and services.
There are positions available for 100% remote work or 50% hybrid.
Job Duties :
Design, develop, maintain, and optimize SQL Server databases to meet the evolving needs of our applications and systems.
Provide support to development teams in database-related matters such as creating complex procedures or tables to view or manipulate the data within the database and return it for development use.
Perform database administration tasks such as installation, configuration, backup/recovery, and performance tuning.
Collaborate with team to gather requirements and translate them into database solutions.
Create/update database documentation and support security measures needed within the database.
Qualifications
Required Education:
JUNIOR LEVEL – BS degree and two (2) years of experience.
MID LEVEL – BS degree and five (5) years of experience.
Required Skills:
Experience in SQL, Microsoft SQL Server, SQL programming and scripting.
Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
Familiarity with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS).
Knowledge of Windows Server environments.
Ability to identify and troubleshoot database-related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space, and other resource contention issues.
Full understanding of the flow down of Interface Design Documents to Database Data Definitions.
Self-reliant to learn and understand new technologies and new features of existing technologies.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Require d Clearance:
- Active Secret Clearance.
Work Environment:
This position may require on-call availability.
Participation in disaster recovery drills and activities.
Some travel may be required for the purpose of on-site system maintenance and troubleshooting.
