POSITION SUMMARY:

Establishes and carries out all aspects of teardown, measurement, and analysis of post-test turbochargers. Works directly with internal customers on the scheduling and technical requirements for TAG analysis and reporting.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Work area:

  • Maintains a safe, clean, efficient lab facility and work area.

  • Incorporates equipment and processes in lab that support world-class inspection and evaluation.

  • Makes recommendations for new equipment and maintenance of equipment, and to improve laboratory efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Responsible for inventory of upcoming inspections.

  • Updates Global database with new technology entries.

Teamwork:

  • Is seen as the most experienced and lead technician which provides guidance to other technicians and engineers .

  • Trains non-TAG technicians (e.g. new engineers) in TAG process.

  • Collaborates with manufacturing and engineering to define best inspection methods.

  • When specialized inspections or analyses are required by other resources, takes full responsibility for arranging the outside services, maintaining ownership of the overall assigned inspection and reporting.

Expertise:

  • Designs and sets up test procedures and hardware to perform testing required by Engineering.

  • Continues training to increase capabilities in both technical and interpersonal areas.

  • Reads and interprets EMS assignments to determine necessary hardware, assembly requirements, and test requirements for all areas of the Lab.

  • Works to improve the expertise, service capabilities, output, and overall performance of the TAG area.

  • Can create and present work instructions to Engineers or Technicians outside of TAG.

  • Can competently communicate and present to the customer if requested or assigned .

Work process:

  • Understands and fully complies with all current health, safety, and environmental policies.

  • Communicates and enforces safe work procedures.

  • Identifies and closes safety issues (suggestions, inspection and investigation findings) and their corrective actions.

  • Understands and fully complies with all current quality and control policies.

  • Carries out all inspections, tests, analyses, and reports per the agreed schedule, and produces output reports of professional caliber.

  • Performs other duties as requested or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Demonstrated high-level proficiency in mechanical teardown and inspection of components.

Demonstrated history of professional, methodical, and organized work habits.

Demonstrated high-level knowledge of turbocharger function, turbocharger component manufacturing processes (casting, forging, machining, assembly), and assessment of turbocharger mechanical and electrical components.

Demonstrated high-level proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, product measurement, and shop math.

Requires general manual machining, assembly, and fabrication experience.

Proficiency with Microsoft office software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook) is required.
